Bartholomew's Loft at Johnsfort

Bairbre was a lovely friendly host. She is a wealth of information about the local area. We really appreciated the half dozen eggs we were given on arrival. The first floor of the house is lovely and spacious, with everything we needed. The laundry room with a washing machine and dryer was handy. Having the cats wander in to say hello absolutely made my day as I've been missing my own while travelling. Views out the window of the Highland Cattle was a real treat. The property is quiet and peaceful, and well located for exploring the surrounding areas.

The ground floor is somewhat less impressive. There are 2 bedrooms, with beds for 5 people in total. We chose the smaller room because we wanted the bedside lamps. This room holds a very small double bed. It's shorter than normal. For a good reason, as a normal size bed wouldn't fit in the room. In fairness, the room description does give measurements for the beds. I just didn't realise how short they'd be. This bed took up the entire room. We stored our bags in the other room. I'm not sure what you'd do with a larger group of people. Which brings me to the second issue. The room description says 2 bathrooms. This might technically be correct, because there is a toilet in the laundry upstairs. Downstairs you have one shower room with a second toilet in it. So if you're a group of 5, you'll be queueing up to shower. I'm optimistic that this shower room will be cleaner now than it was when we were there. The rest of the house was clean, so I am willing to believe that the mould in the shower was an unfortunate oversight. The faulty exhaust fan probably didn't help, and once I pointed these issues out to Bairbre she apologised and got right on to sorting it out. And finally, the wifi was pretty patchy. Not a big deal, it just made it a bit tricky to research activities for each day. Honestly, I don't want to make it sound like our stay was awful. We had a good time and the house is cute. But I think it might be a bit cramped for a large group.

Johnsfort was everything we needed. It was absolutely perfect! The home and hosts were better than we expected and we had a great time! Slept well and enjoyed our visit immensely!! 100% recommend!!

Beautiful and quiet setting that was centrally located to visit most of Ireland by car. Wonderful family who provides advice on places to see and some amazing bread and fresh eggs. So welcoming.

The little town is pretty small and if you want to go out to eat you'll need to go a little further than town. That being said we had a kitchen and made some of our own meals when we didn't feel like driving.

The living room is big and it very quite with some lovely farm animals.

Absolutely gorgeous accomodation, the loft exceeded our expectations. Fresh eggs, bagels, butter, milk, cereal, tea, coffee, sugar, condiments left out for us. Great to have these after arriving on a late flight and shops all shut to get essentials. Beautifully decorated accommodation, beds very comfortable and the place is soo peaceful and quiet. Had a fantastic sleep, just pity we only had one night to enjoy it. We have booked again for next year and will be staying longer to enjoy the apartment more. Everything was exactly like pictures online. Communication with the owners was good, we didn't get to meet them as we arrived late but they messaged with details of how to get to the loft and messaged the next morning to make sure everything was ok with us. A fab place and a great stay. Can't wait to return.

lovely property .. very clean inviting warm and has everything you could possibly need . the owners had milk in the fridge for our arrival snd some beautiful bread butter and jam so kind and thoughtful
