The hot tub was nice, but for adults only, bathrooms were clean. Cot provided with good mattress.
*Facilities were disappointing. living room tv was damaged with several lines running through the screen. Tears in side of single chair.
*3 out of 4 beds were literally hard as rock - it was the worst I've ever had to try and sleep on in my 40 years and wasn't ideal since im already living with chronic pain.
* lots of pint glasses in the kitchen but only 2 small glasses. The kitchen units inside were rough and grubby. Kettle had lots of limescale in it.
* Kids disappointed at not being allowed to use hot tub.
* Not child safe for families as their was no gate at front to enclose the garden. We had a toddler with us, so this was problematic. Also, ground at the back of the property is poorly maintained as lots of overgrown weeds around hot tub and uneven concrete, which my toddler tripped on.
* The washing machine was covered in mould type stuff around the door hinge, and it smelled horrible.
* No welcome pack such as a little carton of milk in the fridge or a hamper - we have had this provided by other places who charged less for staying. We felt we were overcharged for what we got. We won't be returning, and we would not recommend it to others, especially those with young children.
* Host Pauline was rude, I have a condition that causes my tummy to swell, she asked when my due date was, and even when I said I wasn't pregnant she didn't apologise. Im very self-conscious about my tummy, so this kind of was the nail in the coffin to end a bad overall holiday experience.
We felt very uncomfortable with the outside cameras and all the rules. We felt like we were children being talked down to by a teacher.

We stayed at Quinetenvale house for my dad's 70th birthday at the start of November. House catered so well for the 7 of us (age range 12-71). Hosts got in touch before our visit and gave us all the information we needed. Really liked the WhatsApp videos explaining heating system, hot tub, etc. Folder of information provided in the house with menus of local restaurants and take aways were also useful. House was exceptionally clean, warm and had everything we needed supplied. Beds were comfy. We loved the hot tub. Location was private and had great views. Close to Kilkeel with lots of shops, etc and also to tourist locations - spelga dam, silent valley, etc. We would happily stay again.

Beautiful location, great facilities and Pauline was so helpful. The hot tub was perfect and well maintained, and it was a great place for a group catch up!

Extremely Disappointing Experience - Rude Host and Hidden Fees
We booked this property to celebrate Christmas with our family, but unfortunately, the experience fell far short of our expectations. The host charged an additional £50 per night per child for four children, including a 2-year-old, despite stating in the listing that children were welcome. This fee was not disclosed in the booking description. Despite multiple attempts to contact the host for clarification beforehand, they ignored all our messages. We were only informed the night before our stay that we would not be allowed to check in unless we paid the unexpected charges upfront.
To make matters worse, we were "warned" about the hot tub, with the host threatening to withhold our £100 deposit if the water did not remain crystal clear. The excessive rules imposed made us feel so intimidated that we chose not to use the hot tub at all.
The house itself was disappointing. Despite keeping the heating on continuously, the property remained cold, with condensation on the floors and windows. The showers were filthy and smelled strongly of mold. The first impression of the property was equally poor, as parts of the fence were missing, giving it a neglected and unwelcoming appearance.
We were left with no option to cancel the booking or seek alternatives. To avoid losing the full amount we had already paid, we reluctantly paid an additional £400 for the children's fees.
Overall, this was a frustrating and unpleasant experience. The lack of transparency, poor communication, and unwelcoming attitude from the host made it even worse. I cannot recommend this property to anyone. FYI Photos attached !

4 double bed house with everything you need for your self-catering stay.
Host will also arrange local restaurant transport to Kilkeel if you want to leave the car.
Spacious and spotlessly clean. The hot tub is amazing as long as your understand the rules of use.
There are very strict rules for the hot tub which is totally understandable and these should be very clear before booking. I did not know about cash deposit for safety of hot tub before booking.
It was fine, would prefer to know everything up front.

Pauline was a great host. She was there to greet you and explain how the hottub and kitchen appliances work, the house is home from home all you need to enjoy a great stay, make use of the commentary taxi and 10% discount at the Kilmory Arms Hotel, the food is great 👍
Thanks you Pauline

The view is outstanding, location is handy to Newcastle and house itself is lovely.
Property Fantastic - Host not so much.
My mum , auntie, brother, sister in law & I booked a relaxing 2 night stay for my nephews 4th birthday. House is absolutely beautiful & the views are amazing. It’s an absolute shame that the host is a complete let down to the property. 2 minutes into Pauline arriving to the house at 6pm to greet us we were yelled at for ‘exposing’ the hot tub- meaning we opened the cover as you would with a hot tub that you paid to get into. Then proceeded to give a mountain of rules to 5 adults who know exactly how to respect a home. What was supposed to be a relaxing trip for two nights which cost £540 turned out to feel like Fort Knox. She takes £100 deposit for hot tub and she will find any excuse not to give you it back, we left the hot-tub crystal clear ready for her next guests, take photos upon arrival & after stay as I did 👍🏼 I had accidentally broke a glass on the ground beside hot tub late at night and decided to wait until morning when bright to clean as it was pitch black that night, as pauline stated she would arrive at 10.45 for check out I was going to make sure it was spotless before her arrival, unaware she would show up at 7am and take photos of the glass before I could clean it. We left the house & hot tub more spotless than what we arrived too. We were watched like a hawk & treated like children instead adult paying customers. We feel like we need another trip away just to relax from that trip, disappointing !!

The house was immaculate and the view was breathtaking. Pauline the host was so helpful with everything from the hot tub through to local sights and bars and restaurants. It was such a lovely touch for Pauline to put up happy anniversary banners for a couple of our group who were celebrating their first wedding anniversary. The hot tub was just beautiful especially with the stunning views. I cannot recommend this place enough and will hopefully be returning in the near future.

Perfect location. My two siblings have severe learning disabilities and can get very overwhelmed in a new environment but they loved it. My parents also were able to settle easily as the house is a good bit away from the neighbours, so if our two made noise it wouldn't disturb anyone around. Lovely and clean. Would definitely stay again.
Everything was brilliant. Two of the beds were a little hard but I have slept on worse in hotels.

The location of the house is perfect and close to so many different place but you could also never leave the house if you wanted. With the space for the children to play and all the nice wee extras the hosts leave (paddling pools bats balls etc) the children have a ball and the hot tub keeps the adults happy.

The house was spotless and had everything we could have needed for a lovely chilled girl's trip away. Pauline is a fantastic host and you can tell that the property is important to her and the rest of her family. They were attentive, leaving us 2 numbers to contact if we needed them and couldn't do enough for us. We would definitely recommend and are already thinking of when we can go back!
Nothing that we would change

Not child friendly! No gate on property and a gap in the wall at garden with a 2ft drop, also no covers over the drains around the house. The business is family run but for the wrong reasons, they like to keep an eye on you! So much so that a drone entered the sky on the first night when we entered the hot tub. Two off the party left early as this is a complete invasion off their privacy, the amount off money they charge and they don’t even trust their guests to look after the property, lists off rules dos and don’ts, we went there for a relaxing weekend which we could not do, couldn’t wait to get home! Also on a working farm which is not mentioned when booking neither is the restrictions on hot tub legally a child can enter a hot tub over the age off 5 but this house do not let anyone under the age off 16, (anyone with children will understand how hard it is to tell them no especially when they have autism) this should be made clear prior to booking your stay at the property and unfortunately this is one of the main reasons we booked this property and i couldn’t get my money back after learning this information because it’s non refundable so I had two upset children. I was advised not to worry as there would be a swimming pool provided for the children, unfortunately the pool provided was big enough for one small child. You are greeted by Pauline when arriving who takes you through everything your allowed to do and everything your not allowed to do which is a lot. We were all grown adults we know how to treat a house with respect

Beautiful location, house well kitted out, really great space for two families, very clean, incredible views on all sides.
Even with directions we all got lost a few times on arrival, hopefully a pin in Google maps will soon sort that. Kids were gutted they couldn't go in the hottub, but adults had a lovely soak each evening.
