Apartamentos Mercado Central

We enjoyed the location very much, as we were able to walk to the cathedral, the market, local cafes, restaurants, and around the historic downtown. Both apartments were clean, uncluttered, and well-equipped with fresh linens, towels, and great water pressure. The apartments featured fully equipped kitchens with a small dining table, a sofa bed, and a TV, and the bathrooms came stocked with shampoo and shower gel. It was also a huge plus to have two bathrooms for two bedrooms. One bedroom had an en-suite bathroom, while the other had access to a bathroom just outside, providing great independence.

We rented two separate apartments to accommodate our need for five rooms. The third-floor apartment was excellent, though the tub was a bit slippery. However, the first-floor apartment had a few issues in one of the bathrooms: the showerhead was held together with duct tape making the water splatter all over the place, and a flickering light proved to be quite annoying.

The entry is in a very dirty alleyway which was regularly frequented by men relieving themselves near the entrance. The apartment was not soundproofed and it was incredibly noisy most of the day and night. The apartment hot water system activated every 30 ,minutes or so and sounded like a washing machine going off in your ear. Additionally the air conditioning did not work as it was locked at 23 degrees and it was extremely humid at night. These things combined made sleeping almost impossible for the two nights we stayed there. The apartment itself is bare bones and very uninspiring. Its efectively been built and left as is. You cannot open the windows with the noise which made it a little dank. The location though is perfect for exploring old town which makes up most of the 5 stars allocated here. It's almost the only dodgy street/alleyway in the whole area which is a shame. Would not stay there again given the price and lack of sleep.
