I’ve been returning to Montenegro every summer since 2013, always looking for another beautiful place or hidden gem. After so many years, I thought I had already discovered most of them. Then I found Mashtra, tucked away in the beautiful Valdanos area among magnificent, timeless olive groves, and suddenly, I had a new favourite. Set in a gorgeous old stone house and away from the usual tourist paths, Mashtra is the kind of place that feels genuinely authentic. It offers a rare combination of natural beauty, peace, and warmth. What makes the experience truly special, though, is the people. The family who owns and runs the hotel, together with their wonderful staff, create an atmosphere of genuine hospitality. You can see how personally involved they are and how much care they put into making every guest feel welcome. The food is another highlight. Breakfast was lovely, while dinner was exceptional, especially the fresh fish and seafood. And the extra virgin olive oil was simply outstanding, among the finest I have ever tasted. Everything felt fresh, homemade, beautifully prepared, and authentic. Our room was comfortable, the bed exceptionally good, and we slept peacefully surrounded by the quiet of the olive groves. After so many summers in Montenegro, I did not expect to find a place that would still surprise me. Hotel Mashtra did exactly that. It is not simply a beautiful hotel, it is an experience. A heartfelt thank you to the whole family and team for such wonderful hospitality. We would absolutely return and warmly recommend Mashtra to anyone looking for a beautiful, peaceful, authentic stay near Ulcinj. A true hidden gem of Montenegro.

I liked the location a lot, quiet place. Staff and the owner were great.

I didnt like that my room was not cleaned daily and towels werent changed daily also! Breakfast need to be fresh and hot daily.
