The setting was beautiful in amongst the olive trees. The food is excellent. The breakfasts included many different things and changed daily. The restaurant in the evening produced delicious food and the chef should be commended.

The room was smelly and austere. Concrete ceiling. No pictures (except a wall hanging). Very stark. Bed was not very comfy.

Georgious meeting with the Montenegro for the first time

Excellent place with a high quality standard, especially restaurant and swimming pool area. This was our best choice in this part of the region in Montenegro. Would like to come back, this is a very good recomendation ;))

Beautiful place.

Very lovely place to stay with a nice pool, great food at the restaurant and a delicious breakfast. The rooms are big and minimalistic. Service and staff are very nice as well.

The external facade is lovely but never going back and would not recommend it.

The breakfast was a breakfast board, it was ok but they didn’t allow requests or variation even though it was sold as ‘a la cartel’. Plus you were only allowed one coffee, any more than that and you had to pay for them (even if you chose not to Have the juices etc offered)

The room was NOISY!! Thin walls, thin doors, had the room at the top of the stairs so we caught ALL the night traffic which was loud! Nothing is fully finished in the place; paintwork etc, laying bed you look up to the ceiling to see bare concrete. Very little room amenities. We asked staff to organise a taxi for us to the airport and they simply provided us with the number to call rather than calling for us, which was particularly difficult given the language barriers. A lot of rubbish left around the properly in full view of the diners… ie old empty flower pots, concrete bags etc. no actual ‘reception’ type service to the customer!

High-end haven

A beautiful, classy building - the photos don’t lie - giving a slice of Provence or Tuscany/Umbria, but with a lower price tag. Pool area beautifully done, and extraordinary, ancient olive trees far and wide. Excellent food, friendly staff, family-run. Good mattresses and A/C.

Small things. - Room 1 is above the restaurant, so it’s a bit noisy until late with piped lounge jazz. - Nearby Valdarnos beach is a disappointment. Surroundings are idyllic, but planners/developers need to sort out an old problem (defunct and scruffy Yugoslav military holiday resort). - Small fridge in room would be nice. - wine list could do with more lower priced options

This is an absoulte hidden gem!

The food was absolutely perfect. It was the first time that I absolutely wanted to try seafood because it looked so good. But Dinner was not where it stopped, breakfast was absolutely amazing two and the variety on the plate was just perfect. Our room was huge and had a great view of the olive trees around the house and the pool. The Bed was cosy and the bath modern and very clean which is very important to me.

A true gem – peaceful, beautiful, and unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The location is magical – surrounded by olive trees with stunning views. Room no6 was super comfortable and with beautiful view of the sea, mountain and olive trees. My son loved the swimming pool! The atmosphere in the hotel is peaceful and relaxing. The restaurant was a highlight – absolutely delicious! The staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and helpful! Can’t recommend enough – we’ll definitely be back!

If you go to Ulcinj you must visit this place .

It’s a small hotel located in a beautiful olive garden near one of the most beautyful beach in Montenegro - Valdanos Beach ( the sunset was amazing! ) The stuff and the owner are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was full and delicious. The restaurant is top of the top in Montenegro. This place is unique in Ulcinj.

Did not fulfill our expectations.

The restaurant has a very nice ambiance and the olive trees are lovely. The owner and staff have been nice and forthcoming.

The property was unfortunately not located where it was supposed to be according to booking.com (1.8 km away from the beach instead of 100 m as promoted). In our bathroom we had a very bad smell coming from the pipes stretching into the sleeping room as well. The marketing photos as promoted on booking.com are much nicer as the actual situation on site - don’t expect too much.

Smart hotel with great food, a warm welcome and lovely balcony

This was a perfect location for us, visiting wildlife sites on the south of Montenegro, including Ulcinj salt pans (great birdwatching) and the southern part of Lake Skadar (which is a longer drive away but worth it). Fabulous wildlife locally too with house martins from the balcony, squirrels and butterflies by the beach. We loved our balcony which really made the stay special. It’s a quiet place outside of the town. Breakfast (included in the price) was magnificent with a good range of food and beautifully presented, a real event. We ate in the restaurant one night and it was delicious and good value. Unlike many places we ate in Montenegro the music in the restaurant was tasteful, not loud and distracting, it really helps create a nice atmosphere. The staff were friendly and always helpful.

The bathroom was just a glass screen to the shower and you had to walk through the shower to use the toilet, ie after a shower the floor was soaked. It needed a proper door for privacy and a mop to dry the floor.

Stayed for one night. Cozy hotel surrounded by olive trees. Very polite staff. The restaurant is worth visiting even if you don't plan to stay at the hotel. Highly recommend.

Perfect vacation location - amazing fascilities and best staff.

The staff was wonderful - professional, welcoming and so, so friendly. Breakfast was perfect and the menu is a la carte - you have to try Spanish Shrimps. Do not forget to check out their wines. Valdanos beach is 2 min drive. Definitely going back soon. I have visited Ulcinj for as long as I remember myself, yet I never experienced such coziness and warmness at the same time. It reflects Ulcinj’s amazing spirit.

Amazing location, modern design and delicious food :)

The masthra olive house is located outside of Ulcinj in the middle of hills full of olive trees and 2 min car drive away from Valdano beach. If you enjoy nature, a beautiful atmosphere and modern, stylish design - this is the place to be :) the restaurant serves amazingly delicious food including a very diverse breakfast. The owner and staff are extremely welcoming and make every guest feel at home. We enjoyed perfect 3 days at Mashtra Olive House and can only recommend to stay there during your Montenegro visit.

The location is good. Near the sea and near to Ulcinj. The breakfast is excellent, and the dinner also. We did notice that the personnel is still.learning. At the breakfast they forgot the yoghurt, also the bowls for the yoghurt.

The first night it was very noisy, until 5 o'clock in the morning. The next morning we heard that quests arrived late and spent some hours at the bar. We told the personnel that it kept us awake for several hours. The owner came later on to apologize for the noise. He also offered us a few drinks to compensate for the inconvenience.

the homemade breakfast with fresh vegetables & fruit. the bread was really soft & tasty. the restaurant is also very good. staff are very friendly & helpfull. the beach is a 5 min drive or small half hour walk.

the location of the hotel is beautiful, in an olive grove.

we got a room that was not completely finished. electricity cables were sticking out from the ceiling. furniture was missing. there is a makeup table but no chair. only two offinger in the closet. the shower holder is broken in the bathroom. you can feel the sewage from the bathroom.breakfast was ok, except that the second morning we didn't get yogurt for muesli. when we asked, we got the answer that the cook had gone somewhere and that we couldn't get it. the first night we didn't have hot water, but the fault was repaired the next day. very bad sound insulation, because you can hear the clinking of the clock and the talking from the restaurant in the room

Mashtra - the Olive House is a beautiful hotel in a dreamy location. Excellent hosts!

Mashtra, the Olive House is situated on a hill that overlooks the many local olive groves and (in the distance) the Adriatic Sea. The property is beautiful - you can walk the groves before enjoying outdoor or indoor dining. The food is exceptional and there is a nice wine and beer list. The owner Senad will seek you out to meet you, shake your hand and ask about your stay. Both he and his team are wonderful hosts, Dino was especially helpful in providing us advice on accessing the Salt Flats.
