Comfortable and well set up apartment but noisy as located over a bar and deli.

Close to beach.

The description on booking.com says this property has a “patio” suggesting ground based, which is why we chose it as we could see from the photos that some of the apartments were above the bar and could be noisy. However we were not put in one of the cabins in the grounds but instead over the bar and the “patio” described was actually a small balcony up steps at the back used to access the property. At 7.30am the staff opened up and pounded us with pounding music, shouting and crashing about setting up furniture. The description should have made this clear with a photo or description on the specific apartment listing showing the actual location rather than misleading by describing a “patio” suggesting it was one of the grounds based cabins.

Cute small cottage - perfect for a week end to the beach

close to the beach area (15min walking), small but very well organized and cosy. right next to the coffee / restaurant of the area

it gets quite hot during the day - so need to open the windows to make some air at night... gathering mosquitos

great value, awesome location and very welcoming host.

Amazing location, walking tracks and beach nearby. The lodge has a bar/cafe which is open for food and drink at meal times. We particularly enjoyed playing the board games while we were there as it was raining, much better than a TV. Thank you!

We had an enjoyable stay, the villa was clean, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. It's close enough to the beach and the staff were helpful and polite. Looking forward to come back.

Nice little unit for a short stay.

It had everything we needed in a compact unit.

Nothing we didn't like. As there are so few options nearby for eating and drinking it would be worth mentioning the local golf club. We got a lovely welcome and meal there, although you can't have alcohol as a non member.

Comfortable stay in a lovely location

The unit was very clean and comfortable, in a nice location.

First impressions were not great - access was up some rather unimpressive stairs (the sort a non-builder might knock up as a weekend job). They were functional, but set up an initial impression of things being a bit sub-standard. The shower delivered only a minimum amount of water, which again was functional, but unexpected. But any issues we had were more due to our expectations perhaps not matching the reality of staying in an old lodging house rather than any fundamental problems per se. There were newer units on the site, but we were in the original lodge. Clare was lovely.

Superb

It was a small, but very well equipped cabin in a good location. Just right for a couple. Clare, the owner, was lovely. I would definitely recommend it.

Unfortunately, we were evacuated along with residents of Muriwai during Cyclone Gabrielle. I hope that Clare and the other residents will be able to return to their homes and businesses soon.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property.

Easy location to find with a beautiful outlook. Everything we needed for a quick break away. Super clean and comfortable with a fabulous host. Even a couple of umbrellas on hand for emergencies!

Unfortunately the property backs on to the main road to the nearby beach. We needed to keep the windows closed in the bedrooms to minimise the noise. This meant no ventilation while sleeping but we coped!

Lovely well-appointed cabin with great host

Lovely rustic cabin with open view of luscious vegetation, close to beautiful coastline. Cosy and clean with all necessities available and CLARE an extremely generous and responsive host. Wonderfully comfortable bed and comfortable settee to relax on in really light living room.

Calm, quiet retreat by the sea
