we are not the smallest of people!...... but or room had a 3/4 quarter bed which was a bit of a nightmare,

Great shower. Looked recently updated

Place locked up when we arrived. No notice on door as to opening times. En suite very small. No shelving to put toiletries on. Breakfast disaster. Damp smell in corridor.

Very good breakfast but they could have had a menu

They could have had a handrail both sides of the stairs

Nice "full English" breakfast. We asked for poached eggs on toast one morning and they were very nice. No fruit or pastries available.

The room was disappointing. Not serviced or tea/coffee/milk replenished. The only mirror was above the sink in the en-suite, which was inconvenient. No dressing table or bedside table on one side. No bedside lights at all. No lampshade to the ceiling light.

Breakfast was good , room was clean and the staff very helpful, we enjoyed our stay

The room was clean and comfortable , the owner and staff were very friendly , the location was good , quiet but very close to whitby by train , bus or taxi. The bar was good with a good choice of drinks. The breakfast was also good.

There was no food available , if we had known this we could have made some arrangements. This was the only negative.

The breakfast was excellent, with a choice of full English breakfast with toast and butter and jam or cereal and coffee or tea The evening meals were very tasty and good value. When asked for extra milk, tea, sugar and coffee it was cheerfully given (to our hotel room) There was also a good condition Bently piano which I played (well practiced on it (in fact I left my music 🎶 for the next player.

There could have been̈ a pool table.

Location was good, we had a local family event. Interesting to have the local steam railway to look out onto at the end of the garden. Bed was comfortable. Room seemed clean. Bathroom was clean and shower was good. Garden area has potential but was obviously "work in progress" so rather scruffy. Staff were helpful. Water was hot. Coffee was OK. Price was fair for what we had. Free parking available. Lockable bedroom door. A bar which we didn't try.

No toiletries in the bathroom. A liquid soap dispenser in the shower and above the basin as a minimum Very hot weather: so a sheet and thin bedspread would have been ideal instead of a thick polyester duvet. There was no option. Dirty, sweat-stained mattress cover and pillow protectors. No wi-fi in the room. Breakfast: we had said we were lacto-veggie on the booking. I appreciate the majority like "full English" - we obviously don't. My husband asked for poached egg on toast - one egg came on a slice of white sliced-bread toast. The 2nd morning my husband had an additionsl single plum tomato and a desertspoon of mushrooms. No wholemeal toast available. No marmalade only jam. No fruit juice. No menu. I asked if there was any plain yogourt. Sadly no, so my breakfast comprised: a banana, some grapes and a fruit yogourt. The lady serving was rather embarrassed I think. It would have taken so little effort to provide "help yourself" juice in a jug, some healthy cereals, white OR W/M bread to "do your own toast" in a toaster. We left before breakfast on the last morning as we had an appointment early afternoon. We broached the subject of breakfast before 8am but were told that was very unlikely so we left just before 8am. The place has great potential and it truly could be so much better with minimum expenditure and some insight into what seasoned travellers expect e.g. healthy eating options for guests. I wonder how many guests come back for a second visit. More probably would if the people running it upped their game in a few very basic areas. They may even get more recommendations.

Hotel room was superb (room 1) ground floor, overlooking the garden and railway but trains not a problem as don't run during night. Breakfast was really tasty full English, coffee, tea, toast and cerial, can recommend the full English. Owners very attentive, there if needed, car parking close which was bonus. We had lovely weekend and definitely would go back.

Staff was very nice and helpful, accommodating as we were late with arrival, beautiful and peaceful surroundings, with a local train station minutes away. Would definitely recommend 👌

The bedroom was a little on the small size but was appropriate for a short stay. For me, the mattress was too springy as im used to a firm mattress.

Shaun and the staff were very helpful and courteous. I was allowed to store my motorcycle in a secure yard. The standard of the hotel and my room were outstanding. Only 100m to the railway station where a steam train passes. Very well placed for visiting Whitby and the moors

The only thing wrong, and it was an absolutely tiny thing that I quickly resolved myself, was that the kettle obviously hadn't been wiped down and there was a hair sticking to it. I used one of my own disposable wipes to clean it though so then it was fine. Sorry

It was perfect for sightseeing and visiting all the local attrations in the area. Hotel owner and staff were very friendly and super helpfull - Breakfast was excellent and I got a good nights sleep

Overall the breakfast was nice but the sausages could have been better quality , and maybe add a slice of fried bread and hash brown/ black pudding.

Room was tidy and clean on arrival. Shower good. Towel fine. Location was OK for us, even though it was a 10-minute trip into Whitby, which we were aware of.

Breakfast. There was no soap or shampoo in the rooms, even after we asked for some; we ended up buying our own. Both our rooms had a musky smell as though they were not aired. Rooms are not made up daily, so basically, you get your room and then vacate at the end of your stay. T.V. was small, but more importantly kept requesting updates every so often, and I had to sign in even with the BBC. Low-grade food items for breakfast. Not real butter. Low-grade baked beans, cereal containers were almost empty and not refilled 2nd day either, cereals supplied were budget brand. No side plate at breakfast table (both days), Cheap napkins, no marmalade option. Milk for tea had to be asked for after being given a coffee in error. Pleasant enough to speak to but unfortunately no attention to detail regarding the service received. Price was cheaper than others, but you got less, so no win.

Didn't feel it was value for a double deluxe room which was pretty basic,but the bed was comfy

Lack of deluxe,furniture was a bit dated ,one chair considering there were a couple sharing room ,a stool for a bedside,certain level of cleanliness needs to be considered(tv unit dusty)

Breakfast was good ..location was ideal .would reccomend

The beds are a bit springy & the pillows were not comfortable

Bathroom was good great shower and space, comfortable bed.

Attention to detail, some areas not quite cleaned, one pillowcase was yellowing, lack of body wash, lack of cereal choice. Felt suitable for children coco pops/crunchy nut corn flakes. Poor quality sausage.

The room was spacious. The location is good, quiet place but also quite close to Whitby (by car).

The walls were like paper. We could hear basically everything from the room next to ours. There was no soap in the bathroom. No shower gels, shampoo..which is good, we had our own but at least hand soap would be nice. The whole place felt a bit shabby, but the duvets and towels were clean.

I was given a gluten-free cooked breakfast which was delicious apart from Linda McCartney vegan "sausage" No gluten-free cereal, so I was still a bit hungry. Good coffee.

Lovely clean room with large walk in shower,bed ex and view of trains from window would have been great but steam went running due to fire risk.Sean was a lovely host couldn’t do enough for you ,good full English to start the day but evening meal very limited choice as he seemed to be running place on his own.

Sean seems to be workinGioe he gets there as he is hard working guy g on his own so .a number of minor issues esp at meal times. need addressing plus bar hrs seem dependant ion footfall and staff issues

We stayed in 6 hotels/ guest houses over a 2 week period. Salmon Leap was poor for breakfast in comparison to others & was the most expensive. We appreciate the establishment is being refurbished but presently, although clean, very basic.
