Blattenheimat - im traditionellen Appenzeller Haus

What a lovely apartment! Located just 5 minutes from the center of Appenzell, it was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and had a fully equipped kitchen. Irene was a wonderful host who arranged the local Holiday Card for us, which was super handy for exploring nearby highlights like the Appenzeller Cheese Factory and Ebenalp Mountain. Pro tip: grab lunch from the local bakeries in town, they are amazing! We had a wonderful trip and would definitely stay here again.

Central location on a main road but mostly quiet. Close to supermarkets and the centre of town. Fully equipped kitchen including fondue set and raclette maker. Surprisingly cool without air conditioning on very hot days. Plenty of windows can be left open for a cross breeze and there were 4 personal fans, 1 for every bedroom and another for the lounge. Rear balcony looked out over the garages and industrial site next door, but also the distant hills and farms so it was quite pleasant to sit out there. Host was very flexible with requests. Good bicycle storage and e-bike charging points in the garage/basement.

Other guests can be noisy coming and going. The host sometimes took a while to reply to messages, but on the day before and of arrival she was very responsive and very helpful. No power points near the bed. Decor was a bit old fashioned.

Nice quiet location, easy to get to from the train station. Nice spacious apartment. Powerful shower.

Uncomfortable pillows, too flat even when folded in half. No proper curtain or blind over the window, so it was very bright as soon as the sun came up.
