Casa Ridolfi Holiday Home -Una terrazza sui giardini di Pisa

We really felt very much at home at Casa Ridolfi. The apartment has a wonderful blend of character and modernity, from traditional tiled floors to a fully equipped kitchen with all mod cons. We particularly liked the spacious balcony overlooking the peaceful gardens, ideal for outdoor breakfast or nightcap under the stars. Isabella is a fantastic host, making us feel very welcome, as well as offering a wealth of information. The location is great as it's close to the centre but in a quiet neighbourhood, yet has excellent bus connections around town, plus good restaurants and shops in walking distance. I could certainly see myself living here permanently!

All good though I recommend leaving the inner doorstep light on - your toes may thank you for it ;-)

The apartment has a traditional style with high ceilings, beautifully tiled floors and a lovely balcony overlooking the gardens of the other apartments in the building. It was a peaceful place to sit for breakfast and early evening aperitif. There are lovely wooden shutters which keep the rooms dark and cool. As requested in advance, Isabella ensured there were no feather pillows! For anyone wanting to fully self cater, the kitchen is extremely well equipped and there is a table and chairs suitable for 4 people. Although we didn’t use it, air conditioning is available. The main area of town is a 15 minute walk away and the main railway station is a 20 minute walk away. The latter was great for us as in addition to exploring Pisa, we visited Lucca, Viarregio and Florence. We didn’t get to meet our host as we were out so much and she was busy when we arrived. However, she was readily available via WhatsApp, sent lots of recommendations for restaurants and attractions and kindly allowed us an hour later for check out. She also left some welcome snacks.

There were no spare towels other than the one bath towel and hand towel per person so take spares if you include a beach trip in your stay. Also, other than hand soap, there were no toiletries provided.There was no tea towel in the kitchen either. I was surprised to be asked for tourist tax on check out as my receipt showed it as paid but that was apparently a different tax . It has to be paid in cash so go prepared.

Very good location, super clean and well supplied with everything

Absolutely nothing

We stayed overnight twice in the apartment during our trip to Tuscany. Accessible location from both the airport and main Pisa attractions (with lots of nearby shops and restaurants), and the apartment had enough space for our family of 6 people. Isabella even provided some drinks and snacks for us which was much appreciated after a long day of travel. Best of all, the host was very accommodating and helpful even though we had encountered a number of hiccups (not their fault) during this trip. The apartment is also well-equipped with everything you would need for cooking, laundry etc. We highly recommend the apartment.

There was a power outage due to a recent storm and unfortunately the apartment had no power and water for a few hours as a result. Like I said this was not the host's fault at all as the whole street also had no power. Isabella was gracious enough to allow us a late check-out so we could sleep in and had time to shower and prepare for the next leg of our journey.
