We had a great stay in Ombetsu! My wife and I arrived on our tandem bicycle for two nights to wait out rain. The entry into the house was easy, and the host was there when we arrived. He was friendly and helpful - and assisted us with entering the room (our email with the bedroom door key code omitted the letter you’re supposed to press after the 3-digit number code - this was an issue with the translation from Japanese to English, not with the email itself). The room we received had a shared toilet, but private shower. This ended up being an excellent setup because the toilet is right outside the room entry door. This means that it feels like your own bathroom. I would definitely recommend room 202 specifically (the one with the included shower) because it has lots of light, great windows, à desk, à micro fridge, and the beds are very comfortable. The WiFi worked well in our room. The room has a kerosene heater as well as a mini split. One negative was that you could occasionally smell the kerosene fumes from the downstairs heater if the wind was blowing in a certain direction. Since we were the only ones there, we just turned off the downstairs heater during our stay. Downstairs, we really liked the coin operated laundry. It worked well and we spent 400¥ to wash and dry 1 small load. The kitchen was very minimal - basically a counter top, a sink, 1 knife, 1 spoon, 1 microwave, several small bowls, and lots of disposable chopsticks. Being that we travel a lot, we were still able to fabricate healthy meals from the nearby Secomart. There is also a “real” grocery nearby, but it is pretty limited. We managed with just the microwave and our tiny butane stove. Overall, this stay was a great value, and we are very happy that it was available to rent for two nights.

Kerosene smell downstairs. A more complete kitchen would be a nice addition.

洗濯乾燥機も洗濯機も有料でしたが、どちらもかなり古く、柔軟剤を入れるために時間を計りながら使用しました。 乾燥機で黒い服を乾かしたところ、白いホコリまみれになってしまい、とても大変でした。 乾燥機を使ったことを後悔しています。料金も安くないうえに、乾燥も不十分で、洗濯したものが汚れたような印象でした。 部屋が乾燥してあるので加湿器欲しいです。
