The host was very polite, kind, and helpful. He kindly arranged an earlier check-in for us, which was a big gesture and really appreciated after our journey. He also gave us great recommendations on where to eat and showed us a lovely café/bar right across the street. Everything was very convenient, and we truly appreciated his warm hospitality. I had a room with terrace looking over the castle and it was beautiful in evening and morning. Clean and comfortable. Filippo was so kind to help me park in the lot near by and gave me wonderful recommendations for Catania.

The host was very friendly and polite, and communication with him was pleasant throughout the stay.

Unfortunately, the friendly host did not fully make up for the overall experience. Check-in was supposed to be from 15:00, and all arrival details had been discussed in advance, but we still had to wait almost an hour and were only checked in around 16:00. The room had not even been cleaned before our arrival — the cleaner was still finishing while we were waiting. The sound insulation was extremely poor 🔊. Since it is basically an apartment with a shared kitchen and three separate rooms, you can hear absolutely everything happening around you. The doors are old and very thin, so there is almost no privacy or quietness. The area is not too far from the center, which is convenient, but the balcony overlooks a rather unattractive backyard/courtyard view 🏘️. Overall, both the accommodation and Catania itself left an impression of being somewhat dirty and not very safe 🚨. For the price, we expected a much more comfortable and pleasant experience.
