Absolutely incredible house in the hills

This place is a 12/10! We were a group of 6 and stayed here for 2 nights. The hosts were super lovely and the house is amazing and has everything you need for a quiet island getaway. We used the outdoor grill and were able to cook up some local fish. Thanks so much for having us!

Lovely place, spacious and secluded. Highly recommended for a couple or a small group of friends

Perfect location, close to excellent supermarket and both major towns. Peaceful surroundings and well equipped kitchen. Air conditioning was a plus. This is a rustic home from home and the hosts are generous, friendly and very helpful. Although they live nearby, you feel totally separate and private . The hot tub and outdoor shower are welcome additions.

There could just be more comfortable sun beds to relax outside

A very special place on a beautiful island

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful house on Vis. The house is beautifully located on a hill with a spectacular view!! Because the house is used by the owners during wintertime it has everything you need and really feels like a house with a soul and not just a holiday rental. At the same time everything is very clean! Mislav and Ivana, the owner really created something beautiful here, they spend 5 years building the house and it is self sustaining with there own solar energy source and there own water supply. Really admirable what they build here!! This does mean you cannot use the air conditioning at night, which makes total sense and we support that!! We where there whilst temperatures were really high (34 degrees) and especially in the children’s bedroom it was very warm at night (even with fan). Also seeing the water supply is natural and filtered with their own filtering system, Mislav explained that they can drink it perfectly well but if you are not used to it you could potentially have some problems with your stomach. So we decided to drink bottled water not wanting to risk it. Mislav also works for an excursion company and we booked a tour with him to the blue caves and other caves which we really enjoyed! Ivana and Mislav are wonderful people who are open, friendly and welcoming! They really make you feel at home and have a very easy going, bubbly vibe to them! Especially with Ivana it felt like talking to a fun loving friend! During our stay there Ivana Organized a massage for me at the house, and without exaggerating, this was the best massage I ever had!! (And I’ve had quite a few!) I would recommend anyone going there to try it! It was like all my stress was gone. The island Vis is a really special island and has a different vibe to it than other parts of Croatia. Tourism is still at the beginning and this creates a very unique experience.

Tranquil, comfortable stay on the beautiful island of Vis

Olive Hill is a tranquil, beautiful retreat. There are many spaces to sit and relax outside to eat, enjoy the view, read or just snooze (we did all of those frequently!). Inside, there is plently of room, as well, including a comfy seating area to read or watch TV. We took full advantage of the well-stocked kitchen and fixed many meals (easy with the Tommy supermarket just a few minutes by car down the road). The beds were comfortable, plenty of linens and anything else we needed. The true joy of Olive Hill are the owners, Ivana and Mislav. They are kind, friendly hosts, happy to share the joy and love they feel for their home. It started at the ferry, where Ivana met us and arranged a taxi for the short drive to the house. We were treated to a helpful introduction to the house and island as well as good conversation -- both Ivana and Mislav are very easy to talk with. We knew from reviews that they move out of this house during the summer into a smaller house on the property. That does not interfere in anyway with privacy (the smaller house is tucked below on the hill and you really don't see them much -- they are very respectful not to disturb you during your stay). We also learned that they actually built the house with a great eye towards sustainability -- the house is solar powered, easy with Vis's sunny climate (and there's a back-up generator) and they compost their organic matter directly into their gardens. This was a big bonus for us being like-minded. We also appreciated the information and tips they passed along as far as activities, sites and logisitics. Go with their recommendations -- you won't be disappointed! We thoroughly enjoyed a Blue Caves tour they recommended as well as used their local recommendation to rent a car (while you can travel the island via scooter, bus and taxi, for a party of three we really appreciated the ease of having a car).

Exceptional

This is actually the hosts' own house (they move out in summer and live next door). So it has everything you'll ever need (washing machine, dishwasher, very good stove, sharp knives). Mobile reception and Wify is great (20 Mbit). We also found a basket of groceries for the first day on arrival (very late arrival, the host guided us from the ferry). The location in the middle of the island is very calm and at night, the temperature falls quickly, providing good relief from the summer heat (no aircon yet, hosts are planning to install that - we were there at the hottest days of the year and we managed with pool and the cool night breeze). And the night sky is amazing! Our hosts Ivana and Mislav made us totally feel at home. It actually felt like we've been living there for months already.

Wonderful place with exceptional hosts.

The house of Ivana and Mislav is amazing! It is situated on the hill in the midst of olive and figue trees, far away from any noise and stress, but at the same time only 5 minutes drive from the city of Vis. It is a very comfortable place to stay, with a lot of personal touches from its owners (not to forget the pool!). Ivana and Mislav have been exceptional hosts, and their special attention (preparation of meals, lots of tips for the island, day-trip on their sailing boat, ...) made my stay on Vis unforgettable. Thanks again for this wonderful experience!

Exceptional

Peaceful, no people around (only the hosts are living closeby), nice place for observing night sky. Comfy and well designed house, something really special, with a lot of space. Our son appreciated the swimming pool very much. Great for exploring Vis by bike.

If you want to be close to sea this is not the space, but if you love mainland this is the place.

Do not sleep too much because to see a sunrise from this property is really unique.

We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the beautiful scenery around the property. The property was really suitable for our big group of 7. The hosts with their dog BRKO were unique experience on their own! Easy to talk to and very helpful with all the information.

Décevant

L’île est sublime et vaut le détour. La maison est spacieuse et située dans un environnement plutôt calme. Elle dispose d’un parking gratuit sur place, d’une machine à laver et de tout le nécessaire pour préparer les repas.

Cependant, l’accueil a été décevant : nous avons été reçus brièvement à notre arrivée car l’hôte devait aller en ville. Les documents d’identité ont été vérifiés rapidement, sans véritable échange ni conseils pour découvrir la région. Le nécessaire de toilette a dû être demandé par messages. À savoir: L’accès à l’étage comporte des escaliers sans garde corps, et la douche en bas présente de fortes variations de température, rendant le lavage des jeunes enfants compliqué. La propreté laissait à désirer à certains endroits. Il n y a pas de moustiquaire. Le chien des propriétaires nous a accueilli un soir en grognant, il a effrayé nos enfants (il n’est pas très gros mais ce n’est pas agréable). Autre point contraignant : l’électricité et la climatisation ne sont disponibles que la journée (pas d’électricité le jour d’après si vous les utilisez la nuit). Contrairement à ce qu’il y a sur les photos, il n’y a pas de piscine et nous n’avons pas pu utiliser le jacuzzi faute d’information. Notre départ nous a été cordialement imposé à 9 h 30 alors que l’annonce sur Booking indiquait 11h.

Apsolutni mir i tišina s prekrasnim pogledom na planine i more. Čim smo stigli osjećali smo se potpuno opušteno i ugodno. Domaćini su bili nevjerojatno susretljivi, ljubazni i potrudili su se da se osjećamo kao kod kuće i da nam ništa ne fali. Djeca su uživala. Hvala na predivnom odmoru 🥰💝 Topla preporuka!
