Casa da Avó Velhinha

This historical building in the heart of a village just outside the castle walls was charming inconvenient. It was an excellent value and located in a great spot. The family was lovely to deal with. There are a couple of restaurants in walking distance but if you want to sit down and are there on a weekend you better make reservations. We had a fabulous meal at Gato Preto.

The listing indicates that there is a washing machine but there is not. We were also told that there was a lockbox for entry but we had to reach out to the family to meet us with keys. They were quick to respond in WhatsApp but not in the messenger in the app so this wasn’t too much of an issue but accurate information is always a plus. Kitchen supplies were limited and only one burner consistently worked. The coffee machine required specific pods that were only available at a store 20 minutes away.
