For those travelling by public transport: This hotel can be reached on foot from the train station. One drawback is that about half of the route runs along a relatively busy road with no sidewalk. Not exactly ideal if you have luggage. On the other hand, you will find that sidewalks are poor throughout almost all of Southern Italy. I had a room on the 1st floor with a terrace. The room and bathroom were very neat and comfortable. The AC worked well. It was very quiet there at night. The staff at the front desk and at breakfast were extremely friendly and helpful. The lady at the front desk also speaks English. The buffet breakfast offered enough choices. Breakfast can be eaten outside. There are a few restaurants nearby for the evening. It is only a short walk from the hotel to the beach (a busy beach !) The coast of Maratea is very beautiful, with the green mountains right up to the Tyrrhenian Sea. It's possible to walk to the monumental statue of Cristo Redentore di Maratea. What initially seemed like an extremely strenuous trek was easier than I thought. From the Centro Storico (also worth a visit), a path leads uphill which took me 2 hours. The return trip was faster. This might seem long to some. You should know that I am 71 years old and not really in super condition. But I'm very persistent when the hike is beautiful.
