Hanamuro Inn Aka Island

I can’t fault this place and can’t speak more highly of it. Firstly, the location is amazing. A very short walk from the port and many amazing beaches. Other beaches are also accessible by a quick bike ride. While Aka is a small and quiet island, there is enough great food and facilities close by to Hanamuro Inn. The rooms, bathrooms and shared spaces were very comfortable and clean. There are also great facilities like very affordable snorkel rental, luggage storage, outdoor showers, as well as onsite breakfast and dinner, which was delicious. However the best thing about staying here is the staff. They were so friendly and helpful. On our second last day, a typhoon was coming and the staff went above and beyond to help us (without being asked) to organise transport to get us back to the mainland. They also refunded our last night which we didn’t expect at all. Thank you Hanamuro Inn, we can’t wait to come back! ありがとうございます

COMPLETE LACK OF PRIVACY We were not in the goldfish bowl but the more expensive refurbed shipping containers a little up the road. From the deck you can see right into next doors bedroom and vice versa. There are no curtains, no door or other form of privacy apart from staying in the shower or dressing tucked into the far corner of the bedroom. This would be easily solved by adding a privacy screen between the 2 shipping containers or blinds on the windows. We rigged up a sheet with two hangers between the shower rail and the front door which did provide a temporary solution. There are no glasses in the kitchen only plastic mugs, bowls and plates are provided suitable for a campsite but not a 250euros a night residence…mind you they perfectly complemented the included meals….fast food served in polystyrene boxes. The food tasted good but I am sure they could afford some attractive bento boxes and better tableware The old snorkelling kit available for hire is overpriced. There is much better equipment for the same price at the bike hire and bar just down the road.

To be on Aka Island. Really nice place with good beaches and excellent snorkeling. Even the beach close to the hotel was good especially outside of the piers.

The rooms were small but we knew that.

The location, staff very friendly and accommodating, had a relaxed feel .

Having a shared bathroom, room was tiny, lights from outside basically made our room like daylight all night.food included was nice but you don’t get any choice,so hard if you don’t like a certain thing. For the price it was very overpriced.
