About this house rental

Located in the marina district of a quiet executive neighbourhood, this waterfront 1,600sq ft, 2 bedroom tidal oceanfront fully self contained suite overlooks a very secluded national migratory bird estuary all from your covered deck and is a great base for seeing all of the attractions of the peninsula and Victoria. There is an option for an 3rd king bedroom suite included with 5th/6th (additional charge of $95 per night 4 guests or under per room). Additional cleaning charge of $50.

As you enter through your private entrance, there is a spacious living area with 42” cable and wifi TV. The garden queen bedroom is on the left. From there you pass the ocean view queen bedroom onto the open design kitchen, dining area, bathroom and second TV area that overlooks a private 600’ covered patio with views into the 1/2 acre woodlands and onto views of the ocean waterfront. We provide linens, towels, soaps, shampoos and some teas and coffee.

Shops and restaurants in Sidney is less than a 5 minute car ride or walk thru the National Park, nature parks and flat trails to town. Major attractions are close including Butchard Gardens. Sidney is known for great events and shows including Thursday night street summer markets, Weekend concerts on the beach, glass beach and the many independent shops. Minutes from the BC ferry, USA ferry and Victoria airport.

We enjoyed this property for 2 weeks in June-July, including the Canada day holiday. Large covered deck overlooking tidal lagoon is very relaxing. Enjoyed the Canada Day events in Sidney and riding bikes to Swartz Bay ferries for day trips. We may well return next summer. If we go again we would check tide table ahead of time for afternoon paddleboarding. Interior of property comfortable.

Overall the stay was wonderful. We had nature, space, proximity to Sidney and we where next to the ferry terminal. The VRBO was spacious, clean, and was located in a beautiful neighborhood. We got to see many birds all around.The reason why I did not give it the full 5 stars was because one night seemed to have been a party night at the stay. I was unable to sleep. It killed the nature vibe and quietness that we were expecting. We thought that by 10pm the noise was going to stop but it didn't.

Whether you enjoy bird watching, (the blue herons nesting) cycling, golfing, hiking or just enjoying the oceanside walks, this location is incredible. Close to Sidney and the ferries and also drivable to anywhere on the Island. We stayed for an entire month! We had family visitors on two occasions. In fact, we booked the third bedroom for one stay and had lots of room for all of us. Highly recommend it! We hope to return sometime.

Beautiful location, close to both nature and downtown Sydney at the same time. The extra bedroom has its own entrance. This was nice to have when having people that may want a bit more privacy or that have a different wake/bedtime than the group. We would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed our stay in the area and were happy with the amount of space we had. But the foot traffic overhead was quite loud. The igloo outside looked fun, but it was too dirty to use. There were clothes left behind from prior guests and a lot of dust under the beds. The hosts were great and easy to communicate with. Everything worked well and the rest of the place was clean.

We spent 10 days in Meredith and Scott's suite with three friends, working and adventuring. The location was perfect—close to the airport and ferry terminal, and with easy access to the highway for trips into downtown Victoria. The suite itself was spacious enough for everyone to have their own privacy, filled with natural light, and featured a large deck with a peaceful, scenic view. Communication with Meredith and Scott was excellent—they ensured we had everything we needed and made sure we felt comfortable throughout our stay. While we had seen reviews mentioning noise from the children upstairs, we found it wasn’t an issue; quiet hours were strictly observed, and the silence during that time was greatly appreciated. Overall, a perfect experience! We would happily come back.

This was the perfect property for us to stay in given our needs. The host is friendly and quick to respond to any questions. Some may not realize that B.C. recently changed regulations that the owner needs to be on the property so this set up was great as the main floor we used was large and provided great privacy as they were on the upper floor with seperate entrance. It was super close to everything that we wanted to explore throughout our five days and it allowed us to buy groceries and cook everything we needed to save some cash. The beds were super comfortable. I usually have hip pain when I sleep and I didn't the entire stay. It was fun to sit out on the deck and watch the sunsets and various birds that would come into the area. This would be hands down our first choice of property to stay at when we visit again.

Not suitable for people with any kind of disability particularly in bathrooms - low toilets, no walk-in shower, no grab bars in bathtubs. Beds not very comfortable, no place to put things in bedroom - one small side table, no dresser - only rack to hang clothes on. Large rug in kitchen very slippery even for those with no mobility issues. Beds not very comfortable except for king bedded room. Beautiful neighborhood, easy area for walking dogs.

We really appreciated being able to bring our dog with us. We have family on Vancouver Island and are familiar with the location of the property, its proximity to Victoria, the ferry terminal and airport so we weren’t bothered by the sounds of traffic (vehicles, ferries, planes and helicopters). In retrospect, I would have paid better attention to the additional costs of this property (amounted to an additional night stay/non-refundable) but over all felt it was good value. I really recommend checking out Pacifica PaddleSports at Canoe Cove Marina near Swartz Bay. Helpful staff and a great location to see lots of local wildlife.

The property was lovely and well kept, with a great view off the deck. Scott made the check in process extremely easy and was quick to respond with any questions we had. Upon arriving, we found the home was a lovely cool temperature. We did have trouble finding the thermostat as it was a bit too cool during the evening, but we sorted it out eventually. The one far room was a bit stuffy at night; however, cracking the window open made it more than comfortable. Everything we needed for cooking was easy to find and in great condition. Checking out was easy, and cleanup was more than reasonable. For some reason, I was unable to send any communication via the website, but Scott was easy to reach via the phone and responded quickly. I really can’t say enough good things about our stay here. Thanks again, Scott and family!

Our place was very clean. Beds were very comfortable. The area was beautiful. Sat outside in the evenings with a nice glass of wine and coffee in the morning enjoying the birds and fresh air. Peaceful and quiet neighborhood. I would easily recommend this to anyone who wants to go to Victoria but doesn’t want to stay in the city. The Butchart Gardens were amazing. Butterfly museum was worth seeing, walking around Sidney and Victoria was beautiful. Thank you so much for making our yearly girls trip so amazing.

A very important fact is that this is not “waterfront/oceanfront” except as a technicality. The property is on muddy tidal pool that was always just mud during our entire stay (morning, afternoon, evening). There is no “harbour view” or “ocean view” or "beach" so this is a misrepresentation in the listing that should be rectified to avoid disappointments, like our family’s. Note that this is a basement level apartment, underground from the back and though it is above ground from the front with a nice porch overlooking au natural forest garden, the largest room, the living room, is completely windowless, dark and depressing. The house is also close to the highway so despite the birds we heard, there was constant humming of cars in the background so not a rural feel. Cleanliness was OK but some surfaces we wiped turned white napkins black and the dishwasher filter was quite dirty so more attention to detail is needed. Bedrooms we got were small with one night stand so one of us had put stuff on the ground at night. Bathrooms need some shelving to put your clean stuff on it. Some reviews mentioned children noise upstairs. We heard a bunch of that too but it did not bother us much as we like kids though people expecting serenity may think otherwise. The unit is decent size, kitchen has basics, but it was quite pricey compared to true oceanfront hotel accommodations overlooking sandy beach in town, where we will stay next time.

My family were unhappy with this place, and decided to pack and leave instead of staying for our whole holiday. We were woken up by running toddlers in the house in which this place was. My fault for not realizing this is not a whole place, but the grounf floor of a family home with young children. Lesson learned.

We had a fairly comfortable stay. We really enjoyed sitting out in the covered patio. Scott was great to deal with. It has a beautiful view. The only complaint was a noisy child running back and forth, dropping things and crying for an hour on our last night. We were woken up at 7 a.m. Sunday morning so we listened to that for 2 hours until we checked out. We would have liked a heads up about that! Otherwise, it was great.
