Villa Del Sol

We loved that it was away from the busy & noisy town, it felt like a little oasis. The breakfast every morning was fantastic, and all the staff were super friendly & kind. We really enjoyed the pool, and the overall cleanliness of the facilities.

We arrived right after a torrential storm hit Mancora, and the moth infestation in the room one of the nights was horrible, it felt like we were basically sleeping outdoors. Upon mentioning the issues to the property manager, the bugs were all cleaned up & we didn’t seem to have any more issues with them. It was also quite noisy at night , between the cats fighting loudly and dogs barking, we didn’t have the best sleeps. We do appreciate the efforts that the property manager made to quickly resolve our various issues.

The villa's construction transmits noise and vibrations. During our last two nights at the property, some people checked in, who were selling something (?). Until 2 a.m., there were loud phone conversations and the sound of heavy objects being dragged across the floor, which disturbed our peace. Contact with the villa manager was only possible via WhatsApp.

Beautiful views and rooms, loved the pool and facilities, breakfast was so tasty and the lady was lovely. Loved that they offered yoga the class was so great! A taxi always available when you need.

Mari (not sure of spelling) was the most amazing. She made the best breakfast each morning and made sure I and all other guests had everything we needed. There are bunnies! Adorable. The cats are cute too, but they can knock over/ run off with things at breakfast lol Sunsets/views here are great and it is much quieter than hotels on the main road. Bed is very comfortable. There is a very cute tea area that contributes to the homey feel.

This location is up a very dark hill and the restaurant next to it has a lot of dogs. So solo travelers beware: walking back up the hill in the dark was worrisome and I was afraid the group of 7ish dogs were going to bite me at one point. Take a mototaxi at night! My taxi was confused about how to get there and signage kind of blended into the background. It was difficult to get ahold of the owner at times -- to clarify the location and figure out how to get in. There needs to be a more formal check in process to verify guests understand essential things, like how to pull the cord off to the side that opens the main door. Staying here almost like an expensive homestay: the owner and her family live on the property and there are only 4 rooms. The kids were loud at times and one of them seemed quite sick? Not sure where the coughing was coming from, but in the era of covid it put me a little on edge. The grounds are lovely, but there were some issues: shower floors were made of wood planks and this led to some decay in the corners. But at this price point, unidentified black stuff at the ends of each piece of wood made showering feel a little icky. Also, I put my retainer and case on the sink counter during the day and when I went to put on at night -- everything was covered in little bugs. Really grossed me out and I had to wash it several times to feel comfortable wearing it again.
