Casa na Serra, sabugueiro

Lovely, welcoming town and easy check in process. House is up a steep road but the views are worth it. The owner was attentive to our needs and promptly responded to any issues we had. The house is the last one on the road and the surrounding views from all windows and porch were amazing. We spent many hours on the porch watching the birds on the hillsides around us and the light change on the mountains across the valley. The access to the Serra da Estrela is wonderful and it is worth a walk down to the river beach and through town. I enjoyed buying fresh bread every day from the local merchants. There is basement apartment located below this rental that was occupied with other renters during part of our stay. It has its own separate outside entrance. It did detract from the private feeling and we wished we had known this ahead of time. However, the rental is a fair price for the space, location and views. We had an issue with the floors being cold downstairs but we easily solved by moving a small heater from upstairs into the living room. We could have used the fireplace instead but chose not to. There was plenty of heat upstairs and the bed was comfortable. House is well furnished and laid out. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again to explore the area further.
