Lovely property, would benefit from a more homely touch

The property was nicely proportioned and impeccably clean. With just a bit more attention to detail it would be extremely comfortable, such as a waste bin in the bathroom, a towel in the downstairs toilet, kitchen roll, a second tea towel, a cork screw etc

The bedding was thin and below what I'd expect. A bedside table and lamp would have been good in bedroom 3. One pillow didn't have a pillow case on it. Just a bit more attention would have made such a difference

Almost there.

Great location, nicely decorated house, good sized rooms, lots of plates/glasses etc available for use.

There was still work being done on the house when we arrived after 3pm, the wifi didn’t work and we were told by the gentleman who gave us the keys we would be ok to check out at 11 on our final day to then be told by the owner on chat the morning of that they don’t have authority to do that and we needed to be out by 10am. I found the owners attitude quite shocking and had they been really apologetic or even gone above and beyond to try rearrange the cleaner time etc to allow us for what we had been told I wouldn’t have mentioned this but I don’t think the situation was handled well at all. Quite disappointed as there was great potential with this property. Also the rooms are great sizes but the pillows are very thin and uncomfortable, and only two are supplied per bed which I found wasn’t good enough.

Perfect place for a stopover .

The property was very convenient and clean and fine for a short stay .

If the house was going to be let as a holiday home , for a longer stay , then a few items would make a big difference , eg cushions on the sofas and table or stand lights , to make the sitting room more comfortable .

Reasonable but with disappointments. Never before have I been asked to strip beds.

No breakfast

Heating difficult - no answer on contact number for help. Only partially heated in the end. Sheets pilled and some stained. Only overhead lighting in 2nd bedroom - no bedside tables or lamps. Main bedroom only one bedside lamp.

Convenient place to stay to get the ferry to Orkney from Scrabster.

Property is close to the ferry at Scrabster and provided a place for myself and three others to stay comfortably.

The WiFi did not work, nor did the toaster. It would have been good to have a pot to make coffee in. There was no bin in the bathroom.

The location and size of the property was ideal and could sleep up to 6 people. The property had a large drive, which was great.

The chair legs in the conservatory were broken. The bottom oven didn't work. The dishes weren't clean. The bed springs were worn. The bed sheets had small holes in them and may not have been cleaned before our arrival. With all the problems above, we were expected to thoroughly clean our dishes after use and organise the sheets for the cleaners even though this wasn't done for us.

The bedding. It would make a big difference to the stay if an investment was made into new (and more) pillows, sheets, quilts and quilt covers. A hand rail for the stairs would also be helpful (my elderly mum was with us).

Perfect for our short stay in Thurso

Well renovated property with 3 good size double rooms. Good communication from the owner for our short stay and lovely to have access to tea, coffee and sugar plus bathroom supplies.

Only 5 dining chairs in the conservatory and lounge could have done with an additional seat use the window for groups. We managed without a problem just had to move some chairs about.

Thoroughly disappointing

Good location close to the town. Spacious.

Extremely dirty. Hair on the bed and holes in pillowcases. Had to message owner to change bedding. Crumbs in cutlery drawer. Had to wash plates, cups etc before using them because they were dirty. Toaster full of crumbs. Piles of dust and dead flies in corners. Stairs hadn't seen a vacuum cleaner. Scuff marks all up the walls. Everything was just disappointing, no love or care in the place at all.

Spacious but loveless

Very spacious house, nicely renovated and with good potential but absolutely unlovingly decorated and furnished, which reflects the rather rude way of communication by the hostess. First up you get threatened to be fined 50£ if not out by 10am sharp on the day of departure. Then you receive instructions on how to strip the beds and bag all towels and linens as Covid-precaution while the bedsheets are of the cheapest possible polyester which can only be washed at 40° (which is not sufficient to kill off germs). Ironing would help, but that seems to have been too much trouble, the sheets were crumpled. The overall cleanliness is good, the main surfaces appear clean but the whole house could do with a thorough cleaning and dusting. The kitchen is very big with lots of empty cabinets and an fantastic gas range. Unfortunately, the pans and utensils to cook accordingly are missing. The 2-slice-toaster is scorched but works fine. There‘s a huge fridge/freezer. There was no hot water upon arrived, the boiler was completely shut off. The spacious livingroom sits maximum 4 people, however there‘s no coffeetable. The dining room is located in a wintergarden which is lovely. All in all this could easily be made a gem but would need some TLC.

Spacious. Conservatory was lovely setting for dinner.

Two pillowcases were torn. Booking was for 6 but there were only 5 dining chairs. Living room lacked seating. No corkscrew!

Modern, comfortable house with everything you need. Homely feel, big kitchen and good sized bedrooms. Modern bathroom with towels provided and comfortable beds. Off road parking available for up to 3 cars.

It would have been useful to have a 6th chair at the dining table given the 3 double rooms, but it wasn't a major issue.

Very good property which, with a few minor tweaks, would easily be excellent

Location is great. We enjoyed our stay and were generally very happy with the facilities provided with some minor exceptions.

There is only seating for 4 in the lounge although the property is listed for up to 6. There was no kitchen bin and only 1 tea towel was provided. Towels were on the small side

We stayed here for three nights on our tour round the NC500 and found it a great place to stay , the location was perfect with supermarket close buy and it was only 5mins by car to the ferry terminal for our trip to Orkney . The house is nice and clean with very comfortable beds . Katie is a lovely host with good communication about your stay . Would stay here again . Highly recommend

Location was perfect for what we needed. Spacious house well decorated.

Bathrooms weren’t very clean, particularly the toilets. Very basic - no bin or bin bags available. Limited cleaning equipment - basic clothes and dish towels would be good. No hand towel in bathrooms. Hot water didn’t work although this was rectified by owner (thankfully) but meant we were running 30 mins late. Ironing sheets would make a nicer appearance to bedrooms.
