Home away from home in stunning surroundings

This is the second year in a row that we come here. It’s a lovely, comfortable home, with all amenities and a fireplace. The wine and biscuits were a nice touch. The location and views are stunning. And there’s an amazing beach a few minutes away on foot. We will come back!

A wonderful end to an epic adventure

Stunning location, we chose this property as a stopover on our way home from Orkney but it turned out so much more. Stonehaven was a beautiful place and we had a lovely few days to end our Highland and Island adventure. The property was stunning, well equipped and the views were spectacular.

The only thing we would have changed was the downstairs bathroom, it was a long way in the dark in the middle of the night

Great place to stay.

What a wonderful, cozy cottage! The rooms were wonderful and the kitchen was superb. It was great to have access to a washing machine with a drying function (which isn't always the case). We stopped in Thurso to get our dinner supplies as we drove to Talamine. Nothing was lacking at the house. We loved it and wished that we had stayed longer.

We stayed at Shepherd Moon on the day that Storm Amy hit. The winds were ferocious. The bathroom window was not well sealed so it was whistling all night long. The stairway up to the bedroom is REALLY narrow. Since I am somewhat disabled, I had to have my brother-in-law drag my suitcase up the stairs.

Quiet place to stay for a few days with lovely views

Quiet location, good sized bedrooms. Enjoyed sitting in the little front porch area with views out of the water. Nice modern kitchen. Very well heated house! Nice place to stay and walk down to Talmine Bay, just be prepared for the steep walk back up. The entry/locking mechanism is very smart.

Not the easiest to find, white cottage on the left..there's quite a few white cottages on the left. It's not easy to reverse out of as its on a bend and despite it being 30mph, some don't stick to this. The stairs are very steep and narrow with a turn at the bottom so not easy for mobility issues or for getting heavy luggage upstairs. Sofa was very hard and seemed to slope into the middle. Then just little bits missing like empty bins and no bin liners, no cooking oil etc.

Photos are misleading. This property has good views with some fatstic beaches nearby none are as accessible as we’d imagined from the photos.

Amazing.

The location was perfect. Gorgeous views and incredibly quiet. The house was comfy and clean. Modern kitchen and bathroom. Very comfortable beds. Would definitely recommend. Wish we’d stayed an extra night on our NC500 trip.

Stunning scenery and a well equipped kitchen

There wasn’t anything not to like apart from the weather. The house is lovely but looking a wee bit tired, some chipped paint work and dirty marks on the walls from cases being dragged upstairs I imagine

Was it you Colin?

Pepe hit head on door frame and was very very angry which followed by a game of trivial pursuit caused great outrage in the child. The oven was complicated but when free chippies were found in freezer it made for a great meal and the Arabian ketchup was yum but out of date so hopefully we don’t get the runs speaking of runs Claire wanted to run away after having an eventful night sleep where a man appeared in-front of her we do not know who this man was but after a later trip to a local town to visit smoo cave which we have named poo cave we learnt that the chap was none other than Colin Coventry or the old man from the smiling meme which when accompanied by a door squeak in the middle of the night it provided quite a fright for the poor woman the views were spectacular and the shed was mysterious the gate was operated by gateman Pepe and was a rural touch that was appreciated bean snaffled the biccies and the coffee all round very good stay and we would all coke back except from frightened Claire.

We absolutely loved this house! Such a beautiful location. Very tastefully furnished house with lovely white crisp cotton sheets on the beds. A warm, cosy fire with plenty of logs. Great correspondence from the host. A winner!

Spoilt by unnecessary injury requiring hospital admission to Inverness over 90 miles away

Family member slipped & fell down the stairs breaking his ankle.The stairs are steep, narrow and have 90 degree turn with only 1 inadequate handrail. The carpet on the stairs is frayed and dangerous.

clean the dog that visited unexpected kitchen had lots of space parking available good internet owners very good helped with local restaurants and shops very very quick to respond

poorly signposted / difficult to find only one toilet between four was a challenge but overcome poor parking for motorbikes - hard standing would be ideal

We loved the location and the house is beautifully refurbiished and spotlessly cean. Loved the fast WiFi and smart TV. Great shower. Lovely wood burner, with logs etc included. All the equipment we could think of using.

Gorgeous house, didn't meet staff as was all by email, however place had a great manual and when I asked about beach location via email prior to visit I had a very quick response. The view on opening the front door is amazing, local shop is brilliantly stocked and talmine beach as advised by a local we found great for paddleboarding as can get the car right down. House itself was lovely and clean, very comfortable beds.

Could do with a dvd player and pizza cutter.
