Smithy House is a character village house in a prime position just off the North Coast 500. When you arrive, you will appreciate the private parking and electric vehicle charger. Smithy House has recently been tastefully updated, including its comprehensively equipped kitchen and it’s all there to give you the best possible accommodation.
Because we always try to exceed your expectations, you will love how fast the Wi-Fi is in Smithy House. Character, comfort, and connected when you need it.
When relaxing in the sunroom you will have a beautiful panoramic view across the Kyle of Tongue, with Castle Varrich and the Causeway adding to the breath-taking scenery.
There is a small store for essentials a few steps away and the closest restaurant is next door.
The nearest beach is Coldbackie Beach and is only about five minutes drive away.
The dramatic landscape is home to several lochs as well as the impressive Ben Loyal and Ben Hope mountains. Smoo Cave, Cape Wrath and Castle of Mey are some of the spectacular places to drive to, or perhaps go on a longer adventure with a day trip to the Orkney Islands from John O’Groats.

We loved Smitty House! The kitchen was a highlight....a great gathering spot. Loved the layout with the bench and table. Great for morning coffee or evening meal. A lovely, well appointed home. Very well managed. Great communication with Michael. Nicely done! And Tongue? Somebody dropped a "cute bomb" on the place. What a picturesque setting. We would actively seek out a stay with the host properties on any return visit. Thank you again for your great communication and warm hospitality!

A very well equipped and lovely cottage in a beautiful location in a nice village with 2 hotels / restaurants and a very useful and well stocked post office and shop.
Some new and good furniture in the cottage, just needed some coasters and place mats.
