It was perfect for a nice get away. Incredibly cosy and all amenities were there. Perfect for movie night and also for cooking in.

Honestly, it was perfect. There was an issue with the water but it was solved immediately and communication was amazing during it.

Great stay in the country

Mel was a great host, and when we expressed interest in meeting the horse she let us join her to give Mimi her dinner. The accommodation was great and had everything we needed.

The only downside was that the water pressure was lacking. Still a great stay.

Well equipped, but there are issues

The house is well equipped with nice touches like coffee pods, bottle of sparkly and basically everything you'd need for self-catering accommodation. Beds are nice and comfortable. It's a cosy little house.

We found it quite dusty, with cobwebs on the ceiling, dust around the place, and under the bed, for example. The major issue we had was that you have to let the 'hot' water run for approx 5 minutes before it gets hot. We found this heart breaking to do due to the huge water wastage involved. Not only this, but it wasn't clear what tap/side of the tap was hot or cold, so we had to run each for a long time before finding the hot water.

The property is extremely comfortable and the owners are very helpful, lovely people. Whilst here a member of my family was take ill and our stay had to be extended. Mel went out of her way to help and facilitate our extra time here. The location is very central for all needs and the facilities are of a very high standard.

Perfect, idyllic family or couple retreat within easy access to Kilkenny

Wow, this lodge met and exceeded all our family expectations. The host Mel and her family have designed it beautifully, so much attention to detail not only in design but for guests comfort too. Everything you might need from a coffee machine, milk frother (might now need to invest in one too), washing machine and dyer to Netflix!!! Home from home... & better. Main bed very comfy, very quiet, especially at night and plenty of storage to hang clothes and tidy away your suitcases if staying for longer.

Beautifully decorated modern cottage 10 minutes from Kilkenny

Loved the elegant decoration, the comfy bed, the modern amenities especially the washer and dryer. It was wonderful to stretch out in our own living room and have use of the kitchen. We used the second bedroom as our dressing room but it would be a bit tight for two extra people. The primary bedroom does have its own dressing nook. All in all a creative use of space snd much better than a hotel. Mel is a great host. The cottage is through the gate and behind the Lodge.

Cottage was stunning and the seasonal decor really made it feel special. We had everything we could have asked for, even a french press which is usually a sign that the host really spares a thought for us coffee addicts! Host was lovely and went the extra mile to make us feel at home. We didn't bring a car but the taxi service to town was excellent.

Fabulous stay in Ballybur Lodge. Relaxing and peaceful location. Beautifully decorated Mews. Very clean. Fully equipped kitchen. Eggs, butter, milk, juice, tea/coffee there for us on arrival. Decking with chairs/umbrella table outside was lovely to have especially as we had mild, sunny weather. Taxi booking for evening meals in town was seamless.

Checkout time of 10a.m on Sunday is quite early. An extra 1/2-1hour extra would be perfect!

Short Break in Kilkenny

Very modern well appointed property, presented and equipped to a very high standard. Location ideal for exploring Kilkenny and Waterford. Local shops and supermarkets all within short driving distance and basic self catering supplies provided on arrival by the owner. Very welcoming owner who couldn’t have been more helpful, providing great advice on places to visit and eat during our short break.

Romantic hideaway outside Kilkenny

The mews is decorated in a French Provençal style, with great flair. Expensive lamps, rug, beams and furniture everywhere. Mel is a great host and provided the basics needed for breakfast, eggs, milk, jam, tea, coffee. Having our own patio, accessed through French doors (used to be stable doors) was great for sitting out eating breakfast Or having a glass of wine in the evening. The quality of the bed linen snd comfort of beds was top class. No expense spared throughout. Highly recommend you stay here. 12 minutes to Kells, where we ate in the lovely Italian restaurant in the Mill. Only 10 mins to Kilkenny either.

Fabulous

The property was beautiful, down a lovely lane with lavender and plants on either side. It was furnished to the standard of a boutique hotel with beautiful decor. The crockery and cutlery were of a high standard which I really appreciated. It was a beautiful place, close to the main road into Kilkenny as well which was great.

There was nothing I didn't like about the property and Mel was a great host.
