La Casa Dei Mori

The hotel is right in the center of Melilli, close to restaurants, shops and services. Very clean and comfortable room with direct access to the street. The best part of this location is the owner, Francesco, who was easy to contact and returned messages quickly. I had 24 hours in town and wanted to make the most of it while learning about my family history. He made suggestions for dining, arranged a tasting of typical Sicilian pastries and granitas, arranged for a tour at the caves with a tour guide from the local foundation, where I left with thoughtful souvenirs made by locals. Also set up a meeting with the local Archives on people and history of Melilli. I left feeling so connected with my family history, it was the hospitality and professionalism of an owner who cares about the time you spend in his city.

La Casa Dei Mori had tbe perfect location . It’s right on a Main Street that links several cafes, an incredible bakery in Scamporrini’s, and leads right to the historic church of San Sebastiano. It’s very easy to stroll the narrow historic streets like the locals. The host, Francesco, was very helpful and ready to take care of any requests I had. The room was clean, and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. His recommendations were excellent. If I had a question, he had a detailed response in a short time. It was the perfect place to do some family research, andFrancesco made it all the better.

There was nothing that was a concern to me.

Die Unterkunft liegt sehr zentral, hatte alles was wir brauchten. Es gibt einen kostenfreien Parkplatz etwa 5 Minuten entfernt. Der Vermieter hatte uns im Vorfeld auch direkt darauf hingewiesen, gleich mit einer Wegbeschreibung. Zum Frühstück waren wir im nahegelegenen Café am Rathausplatz und haben dort z.B. handgemachten Cappuccino genossen. Von hier aus kann mit dem Auto in 10 Minuten der nächste Bahnhof erreicht werden und man kann nach Syrakus oder Catania mit der Bahn fahren und spart sich den Stress der Pakplatzsuche in den Städten. Auch kann Sortino schnell erreicht werden, der Nationalpark dort ist ein Wanderparadies.
