The Space:
Please note, all guests staying at a Portoro home are required to sign a rental agreement.
Designed specifically with your in-home experience in mind, discover large playful spaces for relaxing, dining, listening to records, playing games and cooking in a newly renovated kitchen.
Perfect for groups who don’t want to fight over the best room, each of the three bedrooms is well-appointed with king-sized beds, smart TVs and easy access to ensuite bathrooms.
Equipped with fast WIFI and a desk if you need to mix a little business with pleasure during your stay.
When you’re ready to explore, you won’t have to go far and can take our custom map as your local guide.
Stay Local Austin is your host during your stay and will be there to answer any questions you may have about the home or the surrounding area.

Additional Cleaning Fee:
We do require additional cleaning fees for guests staying longer than 3 weeks. Your Guest Ambassador will coordinate the cleaning schedule for a minimum of once every 2 weeks. You can request cleanings more frequently if desired. Additional cleaning charges will be sent using a payment request or resolution request, immediately following the cleaning.
Guest Access:
We offer convenient keyless door codes for self-check-in. Portoro Homes uses smart locks with check-in details provided 48 hours prior to arrival by email and text message.
• Early check-ins or late check-outs: If the property happens to be ready earlier than the standard 4 pm check-in time on the day of your arrival, in most cases an early arrival option may be available when confirmed with the main office. Late check-outs must be confirmed with main office staff prior to the date of departure.
The Neighborhood:
Travis Heights is the official home of "Keep Austin Weird" and has been called home by some pretty amazing people. Robert Plant, Zooey Deschanel, Patty Griffin, and Leslie (yes, The Leslie). It's the heart of the 04.
Getting Around:
Austin is an easy city to get around without a car in this location! Walk, rent a scooter or bike, easy access to Uber/Lyft. Austin offers plenty of transportation options. Ridesharing, micro-mobility, and mass transit are available everywhere. The airport is just 15 minutes away.
We also provide guests with a full list of recommendations and services. This information can be found in the House Manual upon check-in.
Other Things to Note:
Prior to check-in, we will send you detailed directions to ensure a seamless arrival. Pack n Plays or High Chairs must be requested prior to arrival.
Parking enough for 1 car in the driveway, and plenty of curbside parking in front of the house.
No parties please. We do not mind you having a few friends over, but no big parties. This is a quiet neighborhood.
HOTEL TAX COLLECTION: Both the City of Austin and the State of Texas requires all hotel and vacation rental hosts to collect hotel tax. We collect these two taxes within the booking transaction. The state requires 6% and the city requires 11%.
YOU ARE HELPING: A portion of the city hotel tax helps support Austin's musicians and related businesses.
- For the safety of guests and the home, there are noise monitoring devices. These devices only measure the decibel level and do NOT record any audio.
Interaction with Guests:
Portoro Homes communicates via email and phone. After a booking is confirmed, rental agreement will be emailed to the guest for e-signature. We came to town for a family wedding with my 2 adult kids and partners. It was a perfect house and location! We were able to walk to all the great places on south congress, the house was clean, and the beds were super comfy. Note: the master has windows above the bed with no shades so you may want an eye mask to block light and there are no locks on any interior doors. But that didn’t affect our enjoyment at all. The hosts were great, sending messages when needed beforehand but never bothered us during our stay. I would absolutely book this place again! Loved it. Wish I remembered to take photos in front of the cute mural!

Our stay was so much fun! The house was perfect for our girl group celebrating a 40th birthday. All the beds were so comfortable with the bathrooms so easy to use with all of us. We loved the space we had and loved all the decor. It was perfect for us!

The property looks as good as the photos. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds and bedding were surprisingly comfortable. We all had no problems getting to sleep. The kitchen was well stocked. We would totally consider staying here on our next trip to Austin.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Retro Cowboy house in Austin! It was the perfect location, very clean, great amenities! Loved the record player with old albums! The only small disappointment was that they waited to send the checkin email until the morning of our stay which resulted in us waiting for about 30 minutes to get in when we arrived. It was minor but a frustration at the end of a long travel day. Otherwise we would rent this house again!
