At the Storchennest thatched-roof cottage in the resort town of Wiek, vacation dreams come true. Be a part of Wiek’s history, as this thatched-roof cottage—built in 1656 and lovingly restored and renovated—is the oldest of its kind in Wiek. In addition to its beautiful interior and large garden, this vacation home stands out for its proximity to the charming harbor of Wiek. In Wiek, you’ll find a wide range of recreational activities as well as plenty of shopping options, souvenir shops, bakeries, and restaurants. From Wiek, you’re just a leisurely bike ride away from the swimming beach at Breege Juliusruh. Water lovers will be in their element at Schaabe Beach, as Schaabe is not only one of Rügen’s most beautiful beaches but also the longest, stretching nearly 13 km!

Kap Arkona is also just a few minutes away. Here, you can enjoy long hikes along the cliffs and to the two lighthouses at Kap Arkona, which are a popular photo spot. Wiek is also a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts and recreational boaters, as it offers a well-protected harbor and ideal wind conditions for various water sports. Also worth a visit is the neighboring island of Hiddensee, which you can already catch a glimpse of from the harbor in Wiek when the weather is good. The car-free neighboring island, famous for its two lighthouses, is also home to numerous rare bird and plant species.

South of Wiek lies the Jasmund Peninsula. There’s plenty to discover here, such as the well-known chalk cliffs featuring the famous Königsstuhl. At the National Park Center, you can learn interesting facts about the formation and history of the rock formations. Another highlight is the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, which is also located here: the ancient beech forests. You can also explore Jasmund by boat, allowing you to marvel at the chalk cliffs from the water.
