The Freya vacation home is located on the outskirts of the resort town of Wiek. Here, surrounded by greenery, only a narrow strip of land separates you from the swimming area and the refreshing waters of the Wieker Bodden. The Wieker Bodden is also a popular meeting spot in the kitesurfing scene. The ideal weather and wind conditions offer perfect opportunities to enjoy this water sport.

If you’d also like to glide over the waves, you can take a course at one of the surf schools in the surrounding area. A short walk further into the heart of Wiek, you’ll find a supermarket, numerous boutiques and souvenir shops, as well as several restaurants. At the chic harbor, you can enjoy the day or charter a boat for a fishing trip on the Baltic Sea. The Wiek chalk bridge is also a popular photo spot in the harbor. Built long ago to aid in the loading of mined chalk, it still awaits its day in the sun.

Why not rent a bike and take a leisurely tour to Cape Arkona with its two lighthouses? It’s especially beautiful in the spring when the rapeseed is in bloom, or in the summer when poppies and cornflowers line the paths. Or you could head to the Schaabe beach in Breege-Juliusruh. The Schaabe is the longest—and for many, the most beautiful—beach on the island. In short, Wiek is the ideal vacation spot for those seeking relaxation, nature lovers, and water enthusiasts.

But there’s plenty to discover outside of Wiek as well. For example, on the Jasmund Peninsula, you’ll find the town of Sassnitz, where you can visit a fishing and harbor museum as well as a submarine museum. Nature lovers will also find plenty to enjoy on Jasmund. Here, you’ll pass through ancient beech forests, which are rarely found in this form anymore. The Nature Heritage Center, which focuses on the history of the peninsula, is also worth a visit. The biggest attraction, however, is the chalk cliffs, including the famous Königsstuhl. Every year, hundreds of thousands of visitors come to take a closer look at the chalk formations.
