This house was perfect for our family vacation (6 adults, 2 kids)! The location was great - just over the bridge and outside the mess of downtown St. Augustine. Lots of good restaurants nearby and not far from the beach. The AC stayed nice and cold for the hot summer, but there is only a fan in the master BR. The dining room had a nice, long table that seated everyone comfortably. So often you see rentals that sleep 12 people with a dining table for 4! Not the case here. The beds and pillows were comfortable, too. The house has lots of windows and the natural light was nice - but bring a sleep mask if you need complete darkness to sleep.

I began our stay by sweeping the bathroom floors (covered in hair/dirt), cleaning toilets (master bath toilet had a stream of dried urine down the front), stripping beds/washing sheets (hair and crumbs/dirt on sheets). Flamingo sheets on bunk bed have an overall "pilled" texture. If you have kids with sensory issues planning to sleep there, bring your own sheets. All floors were dirty. There were dried drips in the hall and bathroom that hadn't been wiped up. The floors did not appear to be well swept or mopped based on the amount of black hair we found throughout, in areas that were not high traffic (baseboards, near cabinetry and bench, perimeter of bathrooms). There was food debris on the dining room table, found 3 types of spiders and silverfish.The house needs a thorough deep clean. There’s years of built of up dirt, dust and cobwebs on the walls, sloppy paint jobs, rusty parts (shower curtain rod and vent/air returns on the ceilings, toilet parts, poolside tables), messy areas (under kitchen sink, garage, pool area, where things have been dumped in piles instead of picked up), balls of dust/hair under the beds (even found old goldfish crackers). The front door locks with a single deadbolt. Kitchen faucet drips continually. The water in the kitchen never gets truly hot or cold (it's just warmer or cooler than room temp). The wall clock doesn't work and there were burned out light bulbs in the dining area.The pool is huge and 5' deep throughout – no shallow end. There is a light on the far end, but it's too dim to swim after dark and there is no lighting in the area. Master bath shower is PERFECT. Excellent water pressure and temperature. Bikes available in garage, neighborhood is great for bike rides. Kitchen is well stocked. Pool towels provided. No problems with the wifi. Location of the house is within 10-15 min drive of several beaches. Very quiet neighborhood.Random notes I would have wanted to know in advance: • There are 2 thermostats. One in the dining room, the other in the hallway across from the bathroom. We didn't find the second one for the back half of the house till our trip was almost over, so we slept poorly and woke frequently from being overly hot at night. Once we found it and adjusted the temp for our last couple nights we found that it's very loud and blows hard into the rooms, so if you're a light sleeper, keep that in mind. Both A/C units were very powerful!• The coffee maker takes #4 cone style filters.
