The Old English Rooms

The old English Rooms is an excellent base to explore Falmouth from a great location with stunning views the facilities are fantastic everything you could possibly need is catered for it is spotlessly clean and tidy and lovingly cared for by the owners Emma & Eric who are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about everything Falmouth and nothing was too much trouble for them well worth a visit we throughly recommend it

Lack of wardrobe space Nothing much really

Well equipped, exceptionally clean and comfortable. Modern decor and two lovely, airy double rooms one with en-suite. The beds were wide and comfortable with crisp, clean linen. Showers were powerful and the toiletries supplied were a nice touch. As was the provision of tea, coffee and milk on arrival with the bonus of the makings for a Cornish cream tea. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this property, thank you

We have no negative comments

A surprising building: an old schoolhouse converted into well-appointed apartments. Ours was beautifully decorated, comfortable and came with the all-important Netflix. The street is quiet with two pubs nearby; the only noise was a brief celebratory procession of graduating students and both the celebration and the incipient hangovers were entirely deserved. Well done all of you. We spent part of the stay observing a young gull in the car park who had left the nest a little too early, which felt particularly poignant given our son was also graduating. Every local who noticed us watching her was friendly and helpful, which somehow summed up the atmosphere of the place. It's an easy walk to the seafront and town. My son assured me Jacob's Ladder was "close and manageable"; after watching my wife tackle it with shopping bags I remembered why I own a car. Driving (in air-conditioned comfort), the town is only 5-10 minutes away, depending on how careful you want to be around tourists who seem to have misplaced the concepts of road and pavement, pedestrian and vehicle, holiday and hospital. Taxis are available, but prompt they are not. Hosts were friendly and responsive. Cleanliness was exceptional; my daughter manages housekeeping at a 100-bed wedding venue and was ready to poach whoever runs the cleaning operation here. The welcome hamper of scones, jam, milk and coffee was a genuinely unexpected treat. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels and B&Bs over the years, and Old English Rooms could give some five-star and boutique chains a run for their money on service, amenities and attention to detail. P.S. The bird was fine when we left. She'd taken to exploring the neighbourhood and appeared to have concluded that flying is overrated. Given that her parents seemed to check in constantly, chiefly by shouting at her, I wasn't entirely surprised she'd moved out early.

Perfection is a dream, so: The bedrooms are mezzanines rather than fully enclosed rooms. Fine for a family, and quite amusing when people forgot how much sound carries, but worth noting if privacy is important. Choose the right friends and its likely a benefit, The coffee wasn't to our taste, but the tea passed muster There's no sea view unless you're standing in the car park. Nobody promised one, so that's really just me running out of negatives.
