Good value base for visiting relations in the local area

Convenient, quiet, clean, well equipped and spacious apartment which was good value for money

Some of the decor could have done with a bit of refurbishment , the apartment is in the centre of North Shields which is convenient but means the external views are a bit grim.

Do not go here on your own or with children

I arrived at this place with my to children one afternoon in July this year. The first thing we noticed was that the area felt unsafe. I have lived in Peckham, London as a student, but this was something else. Persons passing was either really drunk or on drugs, or suddenly running out of nearby apartments with the distinctive smell of hashish surrounding them. The key was not in the key box, and the host was impossible to reach on the phone. As a single mom, I had to make a rather quick decision returning to Newcastle, only hoping to get a hotel there for our stay. Thankfully, we did. The host called me back some hours later and was nice enough to talk with, and I got my money back some weeks later. But there and then I paid double for vacation, as the Sigma 6 Apartment (which I never saw) was paid for in advance. I am used to travelling, but this was really not a nice experience, the whole situation felt unsafe and stressfull. It is much better to stay either in Newcastle or in beautyful Tynemouth, which is the next stop on the metro.

The apartment was very clean and comfortable.

The lock didn't work properly. I reported this but it wasn't fixed and as such I felt uncomfortable as I was unsure if I would be able to get back into the property easily.

Collecting the key was easy. But it did not fit in the lock. Property owner attended and provided a new key which worked but it was still fiddly. I was always apprehensive each time I returned the property, concerned that the key would not function and I would be stranded for the night. Aside from the key there were no issues.

The apartment was nice and smart in a seemingly quiet area. Takeaway across the road and a shop close by is always a bonus.
