Hotel Colonial Playa del Carmen

staff was great. Pool was very nice. The breakfast was very good.

There was no refrigerator in room. There was no ice machine or ice containers on property. There were no concessions at all. The luggage storage was not secured. My wife is diabetic and requires insulin that needs to be refrigerated, this was a problem for us. I probably wouldn't stay there again for this reason alone.

Good value. Clean for local standards

Some construction going on over head. There was an overhead net covering the pool.

The hotel was very clean. The beds were comfortable. The rooms had a locker. Free hot and cold water at the reception. Very nice central location. We had an issue during our stay with the neighbours and the staff was very helpful.

The walls are very thin. If you find loud neighbours it may become a big problem at night. Also, even during the evening and early mornings, with the pool in the middle of the hotel, people may be very noisy. We were particularly unlucky as we got a big group of young ones. In any case, you can hear anyone talking in the corridor if they're loud.

One staff is nice and helped change room for us otherwise I would rate this hotel with 0 score

The female staff is an absolute racist. I booked a 35 sqm room and when we arrived we got a 20m room with smell and cockroaches. It’s ok I then try to speak to this women who then tell me there is no room for the night. But guess what I cannot sleep, and my entire body got allergic and I woke up 5am I spoke to the guy who is on call then we got changed to a larger and clean room. Oh also, we have to beg her for a hair dryer and we need to deposit our passport for a hairdryer? This also doesn’t happen with the male staff. I really do not understand what’s wrong with 2 tourists holding Chinese passports ;p
