Marbella Guest House

I had a wonderful stay at Marbella Guest House. It's a beautiful, characterful place with lovely, comfortable rooms and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The food was excellent throughout my stay, but what really made the experience special was the team, who were consistently warm, friendly and helpful. A particular thank you to Sajjan, the manager, who made me feel so welcome and ensured everything ran smoothly. There's a genuine sense of hospitality here that makes Marbella feel very special. I'd happily return and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone visiting Goa.

I liked everything

The room was very spacious and well designed. So was The rest of the property. The bathtub was quite a highlight too. The staff were also lovely and helpful. They also had relaxed breakfast timings which was great. The room was well equipped, and anything else I needed, such as an iron and hairdryer were also quickly available. They also have rescued dogs in the property that they take care of. That's really heartwarming. The location is good too- walking distance from the beach, if you're adventurous enough, there's a lovely viewpoint up ahead, and plenty of eateries nearby. But also away from the noise and chaos of more touristy areas in the north.

There is almost no light in the room. Even during the day, there is so little natural light that the room is just perpetually dimly lit, and the lights installed are not that great. The bathroom mirror lights are also really dim, and the bathtub light was missing a bulb. There were many cockroaches in our room despite keeping the windows and doors shut at all times. There were also the occasional centipedes and bugs which we didn't mind coming in, as there are a lot of plants in the garden, so we understand they find their way in. But cockroaches in the room are unpleasant. We would just throw them back out. As lovely as the bathtub was, it's not possible to take a warm bath in it as the hot water doesn't run for long on the tap. In the shower it works pretty well.

The location, the staff, the food, old Portuguese style architecture

We were initially upgraded from our booked Jaipur Suite to the Penthouse Suite, which was a very pleasant surprise. However, on the second day we were abruptly informed that we had to move to a much smaller room due to a booking mix-up by the guesthouse. We were told another couple had booked the penthouse for a month and that the error was on the property’s side. It was extremely disappointing that, during our 3-night stay, we were allowed to enjoy the penthouse for only one night. What made this worse was that we were asked to downgrade rather than offering the long-stay guests a short adjustment. To add to this, our belongings were moved to the smaller room while we were away, without our consent. Although the last two nights were not charged, our intention was not a free stay but a comfortable room at a fair price. Unfortunately, that expectation was not met, and it significantly dampened our experience. The replacement room had no Wi-Fi connectivity, and the shower water pressure was extremely poor—barely a trickle—which added to the disappointment.
