Winter stay on an Olive Farm

Uniquely interesting property, country setting amongst olive groves. Hosts very hospitable, wonderful people- Special thanks for piloting us to the property!. A real feel of history. We walked locally but you will need maps or a reasonable phone app showing tracks

Bed a little musty- probably house had been locked up for some time (this will be a winter issue only). The large number of working dogs in area may be a problem for some. Definitely must have a car for this one.

It was convenient for us, interesting, clean, very authentic, old-fashioned and rural. We liked it.

Old house, authentic, with lots of cultural memorabilia. great terrace and small garden, active farming around house, totally rural living. it is a quiet place and off the beaten tourist track and if one looks for something different to stay it is a good choice. One can do easy day trips to Balos beach or Elafonisi beach from the house's location.

Suggest that host air the house before guest arrive for at least 6 hrs. and coping with lots of dogs in the surrounding farms.

Location and staff were perfect. The view from the terrace and the ambience were wonderful.

The double bed was a bit narrow and there were no reading lights next to the bed.

For a unique rural experience

Absolutely amazing experience. If you want to engage with the locals of traditional rural Cretan landscape, right next to the best beaches you have ever seen, Falasarna and Balos, then that's the place to stay. Maria and Manolis where super friendly hosts, the locals of the village where very welcome. The house sits on top of an olive grove overlooking the kisamos bay. Would definitely stay again on our next visit to Western Crete.

Great authentic Cretan stone house to find some quiet time & peace.

I got exactly the experience I was seeking when I booked this stay. It's away from the cities and tourist areas and makes you appreciate the simplicity of life without all the fancy technology. Great place to relax and detox. The house has wifi but I honestly never even used it, because I think that would have defeated the purpose of my stay. The front deck is beautiful to sit outside and it never got too hot thanks to the grape vines covering the whole area. Be prepared to be greeted by some dogs :)

Exceptional

We spent a wonderful time in that house with the most beautiful view over the hills and the sea. We were right into the countryside with lots of farm animals around us. The hosts and neighbors were very kind and caring. We got homemade cheese and all sorts of homegrown vegetables and fruits as a gift. The house itself is an authentic traditional stone house and although it’s not in the description it does have Wifi that works very good. Thank you for having us!

La casa è davvero molto accogliente. Ottima la posizione che permette di raggiungere molti luoghi strategici di Creta, pur restando lontana dal caos e, anzi, essendo immersa nella tranquillità. I proprietari sono stati gentilissimi e prontamente disponibili a risolvere qualsiasi questione. Ci siamo sentiti come a casa nostra.

Terribile

Per chi ama la natura bucolica come noi il posto è ideale, circondato da verde, animali domestici e un bel terrazzo col pergolato di vite anche se la casa è troppo piena di oggetti inutili. Per il resto la vacanza è stata un incubo.

Appena arrivati alle ore 15, abbiamo subito sentito dentro la cucina un odore/puzza forte e nauseabondo. Io sono sensibile perché asmatica e ho chiamato la vicina che pensavo fosse la proprietaria perché mi ha dato benvenuto si chiamava Maria e mi ha regalato le uova. Lei sentiva pure la puzza e abbiamo chiamato la proprietaria (Maria) che ha negato e diceva "go! go! no problem". Ho chiamato booking che per tre giorni nn mi ha dato soluzione.Accanto la stanza da letto c'è uno sgabuzzino recintato con attrezzi e bidoni di vino con odore strano ma non tossico come quello della cucina. Nelle zanzariere ogni giorno spuntava un buco nuovo e i proprietari lo chiudevano col nastro adesivo.Erano due topi che volevano entrare e giravano sul terrazzo. Unico rimedio è stato stare tutto il giorno fuori e fare doccia e piatti sul terrazzo perché non potevo stare dentro in cucina perché l'odore era tossico e stavo male. Ogni giorno mentre noi eravamo a mare, i proprietari entravano dentro casa, io lasciavo la scopa dietro la porta e la ritrovavo spostata a conferma di questo. Questo non si fa! Probabilmente la puzza era un veleno per topi tossico per l'uomo. Dopo 5 giorni Booking mi ha riconosciuto un misero buono, per il disagio subito e la signora non era d'accordo. Il giorno del check out si è presentata alle 8.30 col marito senza salutarci, spazzava fuori alzando polvere, è entrata dentro casa mentre facevamo ancora la doccia. Il motivo di salute per legge e per ragioni di buon senso va sempre tutelato. Tutto ciò molto deludente e triste.

Un havre de paix

Cette jolie maison traditionnelle dans un village ,ou chacun travaille au champ,permet de voir la réalité de la vie quotidienne en dehors des plages. Le lit ,a du être changé car il fait au moins 1.6m X2 avec une excellente literie. Le chien qui garde la maison est très calme et n'aboie pas,et accepte avec plaisir quelques caresses. Nous n'avons pas été gènès par des chiens dans le voisinage. Seuls les bruits des cloches des moutons et le chant des poules bercent le lieu. Un excellent accueil de Maria et Manoli complète le charme de ce lieu ,où il fait bon traîner sur la grande terrasse ,ombragée par sa treille de vigne.. Bref prendre le temps de se poser et de ne rien faire. Un chemin pédestre par a la plage de Falassarna et offre de superbes vues sur la baie de Kissamos.

Rien , tout est confortable.
