Smeraldo Townhouse

I loved everything about this hotel!!! From the very moment we entered this hotel, we were greeted so warmly. Leonardo, at the front desk, even noticed it was my daughter's birthday the next day from her passport and arranged something special at breakfast time. It was so thoughtful and she thought it was so cool. We are a family of 5 and stayed in the family suite and there was plenty of room. My youngest slept on the sofa bed outside the master bedroom. The room was extremely clean, well decorated with newer modern furnishings and comfortable beds and pillows. Before coming, I had read reviews that it was noisy at night, but we did not find that to be true during our stay. Yes, there are restaurants in the area with some foot traffic, but it was pretty quiet at night. We felt it was pretty average noise that you would experience at any hotel. Plan to bring ear plugs if you are sensitive. The AC was powerful and such a relief to return to after walking all over Rome during the day in hot weather. We washed some clothes in the sink during our stay and the cleaning staff noticed that we hung it the bathroom to dry and they provided us with a drying rack. The location is fabulous, everything is walkable and the restaurants and shops surrounding the area are the best! It is a less than 10 min walk to Trastevere, 5 min to pantheon, 10 min to Trevi fountain, 25 min to Colosseum, 37 min to Vatican museums. We did take a short taxi ride (20 min) to the Borghese Gallery to give our kids a break from walking on our last day. Roscioli, the very well known bakery/pizza place, is directly across the narrow street and Fatamorgana (gelato), also across the street, was our favorite in the whole city...and we tried a lot of places. The breakfast is terrific. They have a great selection of hot breakfast (eggs and meats), fresh fruit, yogurt, and bakery specialties (cornetto, buns with creme, and breads. Coffee was excellent. I will definitely stay here again.

The only thing I can think of is they don't provide hair conditioner with the shampoo and body wash, so you should plan to bring your own. You can also easily buy what ever you need at any of the pharmacies (farmacia) that are all over the city.

Location, 20 min walk to everywhere in Rome, as well as right around the hotel. Great breakfast, fresh local goods, great coffee bar.

Keys cards are not the best, but we figured out. Paper towels for the kitchen.
