Lovely spot, beautiful setting. Cottage had everything you needed for a remote stay.
It is remote and it had snowed so we couldn’t come in the way we planned but there was a slightly longer alternative route. The roads had been gritted and were clear that way.

There’s nothing to dislike!
I was sad to see a for sale sign up!!! It’s our second time at the property, we do hope to visit again soon

We loved the charm of the old cottage set in the row of terraces on the very quiet street. Love the stone, the slate, the wooden floors. The modern kitchen and modern bathroom were good too. The cottage was small, but still felt roomy enough for the 5 of us. There was parking in the street. It was in a great location close enough to everything we wanted to explore in Snowdonia.
We arrived late after our ferry, very disappointed to see that it was not completely clean. Bathroom was dirty; pubic hair and urine under the seat and hair on the lid, toothpaste on a slimey vanity, a shower mat with hair and dirt under it and a bathroom floor that was very dirty. The kitchen had crumbs all over the bench, used dishcloths and scourer on the sink and a dish drainer mat on the bench that was sodden and mouldy. The lounges were strewn with a collection of blankets (to cover up stains) and had crumbs on them too. Disappointing to have to clean the property ourselves. It made the experience unpleasant and did not help to make us feel welcome. Such a shame. We messaged the host to inform, they let us know that the cleaner was not able to attend and so had sent her partner instead. The place needed a good quality clean.

What an incredible location, so quiet, cosy and super comfortable. Just what we wanted for all our adventures.
Nothing, loved it

The location of the property is remote with beautiful scenery all around. With a car you are well placed to travel to the local areas. I would advise doing a trip to the local shops for groceries first before getting to the property so that you can get settled in as there is nothing within walking distance.

The cottage is decorated nicely, comfortable furniture and the kitchen is well lit
The cleaning was not good

The cottage itself was lovely, modern, had amenities to make your stay comfortable. Neighbours friendly. Do make sure you do food shop before you arrive. Make sure you do some star gazing in the quarry on a clear night.
Nothing was lovely and cosy.

Very comfortable and clean.
The details implied it was more in Penmachno than a good few miles outside!

Lovely location, very spacious and well-equipped cottage. Friendly communication. This place is a gem and we will be certain to recommend it to our friends.
The fridge was not very clean, we cleaned it upon arrival. The bed in the master bedroom was a little lumpy.

We really liked the location of this property because it was in a beautiful valley with wonderful views. The remoteness was really enjoyable.
It was great to stay in a property of slate construction. All the rooms were well proportioned, comfortable, well equipped and tastefully decorated.
There was a bit of a doggy whiff which was a shame but that was the only negative thing we could identify.

Location was quiet ! Next to a mountain to climb. A short drive from all local amenities. 10 minutes away is your newest shop.
Comfy beds
The shower was not cleaned properly and would have liked tea / coffee included. Also think that we had to strip bed before we left for the price was a bit cheeky request. All other bits (kitchen / living / bedrooms were very clean). Would have liked toilet roll included

Beautiful location in the middle of the Welsh countryside. Full of history! Lots of surrounding walks and the locals are very friendly. The beds were comfortable and the shower was hot and powerful!
Photos attached are of an abandoned quarry literally a stones throw from the house (2/300m)
The convection hob wasn't great for cooking, but that tends to be the way with convection hobs. More of a preference than anything. We thought there was a log burner, but I think it's for show. It's actually gas and we couldn't get it working ☹️

Nice quiet location very rural & pretty place. Beds were comfortable we had a good nights sleep.
It was not clear lean! Smelt of wet dog when we arrived. Lots of hair dirt on the stair case on each step.
Thick layers of dust on the skirting boards. Hair in the shower. Who ever made the bed had thrown it together not presentable. Boiler had been turned off so had not hot water or heating until we contacted the hosts & we got it sorted.

Cosy cottage on a quiet street in a beautiful valley. The cottage had everything we needed. It is remote but that was part of the appeal! Still within driving to main local attractions. 45 mins to Snowdon, to the coast etc. Lovely nearby walks and restaurants within 15-20 mins drive as well. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Lovely location to wonder around the quarry and visit local villages. Good base for our weekend. The cottage was perfectly sized for us!
It could have been cleaner. Didn’t appear to have been swept and dishwasher not emptied from last visitors leaving bad smell - dishwasher had to be re-ran to rinse out. Bad drainage smell in bathroom which did settle over night, this may of been because taps hadn’t been ran for a whilst? Sink kept blocking and took a long time to drain. Bed linen was really creased in master bedroom and the odd hair on the sheets - whilst I’m not too particular, this did make me hesitant to how clean the bed was. House needs some TLC.

It was a good base for a week away exploring North Wales. We stayed as a family of 5 and was perfect for us. Kitchen was well equipped. Was a cosy house with a lovely feel about it.
One tip is to get your food shop delivered when you arrive as nearest supermarket was 35 minutes away although there was a local shop about 10 mins drive away if you needed supplies. Bathroom drain from the shower can smell after everyone had showers but otherwise was clean.

The historic cottage has a lot of character and is in a beautiful location in the valley surrounded by the hills. It was all so peaceful and quaint. Kitchen was equipped with plenty of cookware. Fireplace was nice and cozy. Several trails around the area to explore. Very scenic and lovely!
The floor upstairs is loud and creaky so it was challenging not to wake someone up when walking. Sometimes when the toilet is flushed it smells.

My parents used to live in this cottage so it was so lovely to come home with them and my grown up child who spent his school holidays here. It brought many happy memories back. Such a great cottage set in gorgeous scenery. Love it

My family and I had a lovely stay over the Christmas period. Beautiful meadow surroundings, well equipped kitchen for Christmas Dinner and a cosy feeling to the cottage that made us comfortable and content during our stay. We ran into different neighbours during walks, some of which were fellow tourists, others local, and all were incredibly pleasant. Machno Valley offers plenty of scenery and walks, hilly and flatter, that were perfect for dog walking. We visited The Eagles Bunkhouse on Christmas Day for a pub drink and the welcome could not have been nicer, and this is a short drive into Penmachno that we would highly recommend.

Once you get into the property, its great! it has everything you need for a trip. It has a huge lounge, great Kitchen, three bed rooms... only one bathroom but we managed. We had no problem in that. Locality is good & peaceful. Great Wifi.
Property is great but It was our luck that the climate was not great. No telephone network in the whole area. So, plan and save maps and postcodes of attractions before you go out of the house. We helped a mining staff who missed hos transport. He couldnt even call a taxi. He knocked our door, my husband called a taxi for him and his colleague.
