Sunset del Mar Beach Resort

What a truly incredible place!! We were so impressed with the staff, the facilities, the food, the wildlife, and the amazing views!! The nature in this part of Costa Rica was breathtaking. Everything was CLEAN and fresh. Our room was perfect with a high vaulted ceiling and tile floor which we were so grateful for the housekeeping staff every time they removed the evidence (sand) of spending time at the beach. We had shower towels and pool towels were provided. The bathroom and shower were nice and again, we fully relaxed as we felt everything had been cleaned so well. FOOD: Our group ordered delicious smoothies (passion fruit and pineapple were our favorites) to sip by the pool each day and it was a fun treat to affirm that we were on vacation. Our room reservation included breakfast (EXCELLENT choice!) as they had a variety to choose from. The Gallo Pinto and Omelette were delicious!! We loved the menu options and prices (and friendly staff) so we decided to stay and eat lunches and dinners at the resort instead of going out. (Great decision!) The garlic jumbo shrimp and the mahi mahi were two favorites. For lunches they also had healthy and refreshing options like loaded salads, a Buddha bowl, and ceviche. REST ASSURED that they use filtered water for everything and wash their vegetables with great care so NO ONE in our party (with delicate stomachs) got sick and we were truly able to relax. LENGTH OF STAY: We stayed for two nights and did a late check-out which those few extra hours really made a difference in feeling fully relaxed. We’d love to return and would plan to do two nights and a late check out again OR stay for three nights to completely unplug. BEACH: The resort also offered lounge chairs on the beach which is located directly in front of the resort. We spent our time between the beach watching crashing waves, little crabs scurrying and hiding, and of course marveling in the gorgeous sunsets, clouds, and silhouettes of the palm trees. WILDLIFE: While on the property we saw many iguanas, gekos, macaws, other birds, and sloths!! 🦥 The staff were so kind to point out to use several sloths that live on the property. While eating dinner one night we even saw a mother sloth and her baby climb down a tree and go back up. This magical scene happened just a few feet in front of us!! STAFF: We truly felt welcomed and cared for by the staff as a whole. Everyone was professional and kind. We never felt like we were a burden or an obligation. We were always greeted with genuine smiles and regardless of how busy they might have been at the time, we still felt seen and attended to with care and warmth. COMMUNICATION: We used WhatsApp to communicate with the staff of the resort. This way they could communicate with us any important information and we could directly ask questions or make any requests such as extra towels or housekeeping needs. They were so quick to respond and it felt more relaxing for us to communicate with them in this way. Also, their level of English was also GREAT! Overall, we give this place five stars and would love to return and repeat this experience. I highly recommend that you stay here and make lasting memories with loved ones and enjoy the absolute beauty of the Costa Rican people and the exquisite nature and wildlife. Your heart will forever be change by “Pura Vida!”
