Lake Terrace Lockwood

Fantastic location - just over the main road to the lakeshore, and a 10 minute stroll to 2 mile bay sailing club. Would be a 30+ min walk to reach Taupo town centre along the lake front.

The notes sent the day before (via email) did stress that the building is a Lockwood home, and therefore noises from the wood paneling should be expected. The noises were considerably louder than we had expected (not creaking sounds, rather like booming fireworks) especially at around midnight!! We all joked of being shaken awake by the sounds! The upstairs bathroom was spacious, but we could not get water pressure up there, and ended up showering in the downstairs bathroom during our stay. The house is a good size, with plenty of space and comfortable furniture, and the garden is lovely. The views from the upstairs balcony were also lovely. If I had young children I would be concerned about the open landing from the 2 upstairs bedrooms down into the main dining area. However child-gates were installed at the top and bottom of the staircase.

After reading the reviews I disagree . I have a huge family & this was more than great . We absolutely loved it , yes the house is creaky but when you have a very large family you are so use to noise & noise is all you want to hear .

The only thing we would fault about this was the shower water pressure , which everything else we loved .

Beautiful big house, very homy and had everything you could want from a rental. Rooms are big and lots of wardrobe space. Kitchens is well equipped and large. We had a fantastic time here, eating around the dining table, inside and outside. Laundry with extra towels for the spa area. Neat and clean house.

Unfortunately, like all the other reviewers, we found this house exceptionally creaky. Reading other reviews I thought they were over reacting a bit, but they were not! I constantly thought someone was walking around and the slightest wind causes more creeks. It's such a shame and we hardly slept because of it. It is really the only negative about this house but one that would cause me to not book here again unfortunately.
