Enjoyed the room, but didn't enjoy my back account.

A pleasant stay in a beautiful historic home, with a few things to keep in mind for comfort.

A very nice location and a wonderful experience staying at the old Flemish house.

The bed was a bit too soft for our taste, and the coffee machine is quite old. The hot water in the shower wasn’t always perfectly stable, but it wasn’t a big issue. Just a small note — to reach the apartment, you need to go up very steep and narrow stairs. We personally liked the authentic touch, but it might not be ideal for everyone

No hot water, noisy, unresponsive owners

The property had no hot water on the morning of my check out. Check the other reviews: this happens sometimes. I called, messaged, and texted the owners, explaining that I needed this fixed because I had to leave for a meeting, but they didn't respond. Nearly 2 hours later they replied, but by that time I had already had a miserable ice cold shower and gone. They then messaged again after 11am, i.e. after the check out time, to say they had fixed the issue (far too late to be relevant). They didn't apologise once in those messages or explain why they responded so late. Eventually in the evening they sent a one line "Our apologies for inconvenience". Other reviews mention problems with the hot water and complain about limited responses, so it's clear they don't care enough to improve things. I wish I'd paid more attention to those reviews. All of this was after two nights of poor quality sleep because the curtains are too narrow for the windows, which means they don't block the street lights and don't provide sufficient privacy from the apartments opposite. Plus you can really hear the noise of people walking around in the apartment above. If they move around throughout the night, as they did when I was there, you will be kept awake by footsteps and creaking boards. I won't complain about the narrow stairs and noise from outside because these are to be expected in an old house in the centre of town, but I suggest factoring in these things too. All of this is a pity as the apartment is otherwise ok. I never write reviews, but hot water is an absolute minimum. The way the owner handled this, or rather, the fact they didn't, annoyed me so much that I hope this review will help others to avoid this place.

The location is great, right by the canal, and the view from the room is beautiful. The room itself is simple but fine for a short stay.

The address was very hard to find. The stairs are extremely steep and narrow, which is difficult and unsafe if you have larger luggage. The room has limited privacy because parts of the door and side walls are made of glass. There are no hooks or bars in the bathroom to hang towels. The strangest part was that, although I had been told there would be no cleaning during my short stay, I returned one day to find the trash had been removed and replaced with a new bag, but nothing else in the room had been cleaned. When I asked about it, I was told it might have been the cleaning lady, but the room (including floors and bathroom) clearly hadn’t been cleaned. Later that night, I heard noises coming from the trash area and discovered there was a mouse in the room. This made me think the visit to remove the trash may have been related to that, but it was still unsettling that someone entered the room without prior notice, especially while my belongings were out in the open.

Cozy, comfortable room in good location

Small but comfortable room. There were only 2 coffee capsules for 2 people for 3 nights so it would have been nice to have few more. Room was clean, check in process simple and efficient.

The stairs to the room were extremely narrow, difficult to climb with large suitcase. Location is convenient but it got really noisy on the weekend. It might be nice service to provide some ear plugs in the room.

Perfect cost-benefit stay.

We loved this place so much, the location was very central, a bit noisy but we didn’t mind that. The room had everything we needed and felt like we were staying inside a little medieval castle! Totally reccomend!

The room had a strong particular smell but it wasn’t a bad smell so we left the windows open during the day. When we arrived the key wasn’t inside our little coded box but we were quickly helped when sent a message.

Really bad - wouldn’t recommend

We left the apartment (i.e. didn’t stay over night) because of strong moisture smell and dead flies in the shower. Sleeping with windows open is impossible because of city noise. Next to this when we arrived the apartment wasn’t cleaned yet. After sending complaints we did not get any reply from the owner… So I would definitely not recommend this smelly and dirty apartment.

Great location, logistics with the key box works fine

Room was dirty in general (bed, sticky work table, loads of dust etc). One curtain was missing, others could not be pulled up. Smoke detector was detached from holder in ceiling and missing (really…). Bedding sheets (pillow covers) had holes in them and some were dirty. Shower way too hot but handle was broken to make it colder. Door handle from bathroom flew off. Kettle could bot be used, create power off on every power outlet. Generally not a well maintained room.

A business that does not care about its guests(not clean)

Central location

First of all, you should spend at least half of the effort you put into cleaning the room as you do with the introduction&rules essay that you wrote. The bed in the room was full of black hairs. There were cobwebs on the edge of the bed. There was dog food at the entrance to the room. The toilet door is not a door just a plane wood that you slide and would not completely close.

Great location to use as a base to explore the city!

Excellent location, nicely furnished, lovely windows and comfortable bed. Everything you might need to cook and make hot drinks etc.

Had a small issue with the room not being cleaned when I arrived but this was quickly resolved by the owner and just a result of a mix up with rooms etc. There was also a strong drain smell at times from the bathroom. This was counteracted with an air freshener so it wasn’t too bad, and it’s something I smelt at various locations through the city so I do wonder if it’s more of a city drainage issue. But maybe something that could be resolved? Very minor issue, overall a fantastic stay

Definitely recommended, would stay again!

Very nice place to stay, comfy room, slightly on the smaller side for longer stays. In our case it was perfect. Location was very good, being so close to the Antwerp Zoo and Opera, with a lot of shopping and dining opportunities

The bathroom smelled a little musty, but that was barely an annoyance. Not really a dislike, but worthy of attention: there is no lift and the stairs are narrow so might be an issue if you are travelling with bigger pieces of luggage. An overnighter bag or backpack is no problem whatsoever

Cozy space, room to sit and work and a nice and clean bathroom. The location is nice, very central and close to the station.

There is a lot of noise from bars, the street and parties at night. Maybe a different room (this was room 2) would not have this problem. Closing the windows did not do much for the noise.

The only down side would be I guess the narrow stairs. But the host already mentions it before the booking. And the rooms walls and the ceiling might have been a little thin. Because occasionally we could hear a few footsteps from our upstair neighbours during the night. But not like something unbearable. And hey, its an old building and it was something one could totally expect. And finally comparing to the price point, location and the place itself. Those things were not even an issue for us.

Beautiful room & bathroom, well done revocations, good location and smooth check in/out. size is decent (just ok to not call it too small 😉)

definitely expensive for what it is, and small tweaks could elevate it even more. e.g. really cheap shampoo / shower gel bottles in the bathroom ruin the luxurious bathroom vibe. overall would not call it a luxury suite. it’s a great room but perhaps name is mismanaging expectations
