About this cabin rental
Ruffinit has it all! Sitting on top of 2.8 acres, it is in a very private location with nothing but silence around you. Enjoy the long range mountain views from the screened in porch or the oversized deck.
Ruffinit cabin is really not ruffing it! It is extremely comfortable with all the amenities from home including broadband internet. The cabin inside is constructed in beautiful tongue and groove yellow pine and has been furnished and equipped with everything you need for a great vacation. Main floor bedrooms recently got new hardwood floors, some photos may show carpet. The pottery, pictures and knickknack's all go together to give you a very 'homey' feeling.
On this mountain, there is also a fishing pond, beautiful waterfalls, hiking trails and an outdoor pavilion. Please follow all neighborhood posted signs and rules. Renters assume all liability and risk while using neighborhood amenities.
Currently Buck Mountain is experiencing a drought as of 2024 (it takes about 2 years for rain to get to the well). We have had some guest run out of water in the house after taking long showers but is rare as of Oct 2024. Water will regenerate within minutes but long baths are not possible. We also supply the drinking water and water for flushing in case water does run out during your stay. Again it will come back slowly within minutes.

Scott Kerr Dam Lake - 15 minutes- Swim Beaches, Boat Rentals, Frisbee Golf, etc
Appalachian Ski Mountain- 25 minutes plan to open 11/22/24 no storm damage
Wilkesboro home to Merlefest, Applefest, Moonshine (Call Family Distillery is Great) & Nascar - 20 minutes
North Wilkesboro Speedway
Samaritan's Purse Offices for Wilkesboro and Boone 30 minutes away for volunteers
Perry Lowe Orchards- open 7 days a week and awesome fall activity! 30 mins away
Alpha and Omega Corn Maze- Fall to the max!- 30 min away

The Lost Wombat is a family restaurant beside the Liberty Theater and is also a Zulpo property. We opened in May 2023 just in time for Merlefest and the Nascar All-Star race. We offer outside dining (leashed dogs welcome) and a large playground for kids in our "yard". We are right on Main Street in Historic Downtown North Wilkesboro. thelostwombat.com

Don't worry about steep curvy roads! This cabin is very easy to get to, driving only 8 miles west of Wilkesboro NC or 15 miles east of Boone NC off of Hwy 421. All of our roads in the neighborhood were spared from any Hurricane Helene damage and are safe to travel. For those coming from Charlotte, our cabin is only an hour and a half away. From the Raleigh Durham area you are under 3 hours!

We had a wonderful relaxing stay in this cozy lil cabin. My favorite thing about this cabin was the view of the mountains. It’s truly breathtaking. The cabin was clean, fully stocked with everything we needed and the host, Aynsley was super friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay again!

Was a great place to stay. Accurate description with a lovely view. The house was really clean and the owner responsive. The really unfortunate part was the lack of water. It was noted there was a drought, but we ran out of water every day despite being excessively conservative in our use. We brought our own water to drink, used plastic plates/cutlery. Out of the 6 people that stayed over an 3 day/2 night period, only 2 quick showers and 1 bath could be had. We would have liked to shower more. We had to use bottled water to wash our hands and brush our teeth every night because water literally would not come out of the faucet. It was really not ideal. If the water part was fixed, we’d love to stay again!
