Escape to this delightful hideaway and enjoy the best of two worlds - both Mendocino Village and Mendocino Headlands State Park are literally at your doorstep! Take a five-minute walk to a picturesque nearby beach, stunning cliff-side bluffs, or along the expansive state park just across the street. Or if you prefer, stroll five minutes in the other direction to quaint cafés, bakeries, boutiques, restaurants, and galleries.

Headlands View Cottage has its own pathway and private entrance and is the perfect destination for a romantic getaway or small family gathering. The Cottage is fully separate from Headlands View Home with a large deck between the two buildings (note that Cottage guests do not have access to any decks).

Downstairs you’ll find an inviting space that combines a kitchenette, living area, and dining area. The kitchenette includes a portable electric oven, a counter-top two-burner stove, microwave, mini-fridge, sink, and plenty of bowls, plates, and utensils for cooking and eating. It works great for preparing a memorable meal, storing/warming any delicious leftovers you might bring home from a nearby restaurant, or putting together quick snacks on the go. The dining table seats up to four. The gas fireplace keeps you warm while you snuggle up in the two luxurious recliner chairs or the sofa to read, watch TV, or simply take in the view in silence. The queen sofa sleeper downstairs comes complete with a comfy memory foam mattress.

A spiral staircase leads to a beautiful loft upstairs with a queen bed, built-in desk, and a gas wall heater. Two rocking chairs looking out over Mendocino Headlands State Park provide additional spaces to read, talk, doze, or quietly reflect.

Location is excellent! You can walk down to the Bluff Trail, which is gorgeous! You also can walk to all the downtown shops and restaurants in Mendocino. It’s not too far from the botanical garden which is amazing anytime of the year. I really appreciate that dogs are allowed although right now there are a lot of Foxtails along the walkway to the front door.

I stayed here with my dog and we really loved it. It’s right at the headlands and close to the shore and an easy walk to town. The little fireplace was especially cozy on chilly nights. I slept downstairs on the hide a bed because my dog was afraid to go up the spiral staircase, but it was very comfortable. Anyway we will definitely check back in in the future.

The location is incredible. Easily walk to everything downtown, the views of the headlands out the north windows is just so peaceful and relaxing. The rocking chairs by the window upstairs was a nice touch. We really enjoyed our stay here. And our pup loved the yard out back. Even with 2 houses on the same property, there’s plenty of privacy. It’s nice that each rental property has a yard on opposite sides of the buildings so even the dogs get some privacy when they play outside (yards are not enclosed by fencing but they’re big and the streets are not very busy). Would absolutely stay here again!

Lovely little cottage within walking distance to food, shopping and beautiful sunsets. This is not a ADA cabin, we didn’t need one. The upstairs loft has a spiral staircase so you have to be prepared to climb up. The bathroom is also on an elevated floor from the main room. Again none of that mattered to us. It was a perfect little cottage/cabin for a short visit to the coast. It had a great little toaster oven, and a microwave, we were able to reheat leftovers from wonderful restaurants. Plus we were able to purchase entree’ foods from the market that we could heat up after a long day at the botanical gardens. Walking down to watch the sunset and the high tides come in was an amazing opportunity from the location of our cottage. Mendocino locals are very welcoming and be sure to check out the local artist! We had to use the USPS office to ship things home after our visit! Thank you for a splendid stay in Mendocino!

I loved how I could park my car for the entire stay and walk to "town" for food and drink as well as to the amazing headlands park.

Quiet and restful while also close and walkable to everything you need -- town shopping and beach hikes. A cozy cottage -- loved the gas fire and the upstairs rocking-chair view of the lighthouse.

It was nice to stay in a place that was as nice in person as it was in the online pictures! Perfectly clean, comfy recliners, sofa bed and queen bed both very comfortable, love the location within walking distance to the headlands and the downtown. We hope to come back and stay there again next summer!
