Perfect Solo Getaway

I stayed in The Bullpen at Hastings Retreat and had such a lovely experience. As a solo woman, I felt completely safe and comfortable the entire time. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking — so peaceful and beautiful, it really helped me unwind. The Bullpen itself was spotless, cosy, and had everything you could possibly need (and more!). It was the perfect mix of rustic charm and modern comfort. I’ll 1000% be returning — it’s a real hidden gem in the Leicestershire countryside!

Good short-stay in a beautiful setting.

Very nice space in the middle of a beautiful part of the country. House is well presented and maintained. The host is fantastic, couldn't do enough for us - quick and clear communication, super helpful. The view is amazing, especially over the Lake. Parking is perfect. Kitchen/bathroom/bedrooms all very clean.

The shower is good but the location being downstairs is a little strange. TV/Remote might need upgrading, clunky so makes it tricky to work. A few sharper knives in the kitchen would be mega helpful.

Really beautifully decorated and cleverly laid out property. Lots of little extras, like spices in the cupboards and flowers made it really welcoming

It’s a shame you face straight out at the parked cars, maybe they could be behind the hedge instead of in front of it!

Amazing surroundings! There is such a calm and relaxing feel to the site and truly lives up to the name retreat.

Easy to find and nice surroundings

Some aspects of the property need repairs and upgrades. TV signal and operation was slow and poor. The upstairs shower hose leaks so water pressure very poor. 2 separate doors were loose on hinges and didn't close easily.

Beautiful cottage, well presented, spacious and clean perfect to spend quality time with your family :)

Pictures on the booking.com seem like lake is on your doorstep which is not the case, you need to walk across the field, however owners were brilliant and allowed us to drive on field to get there and back :)

A lovely barn conversion which was well equipped for a weekend stay, even down to providing things like tea, coffee, sugar, hand wash, shower gel, dishwasher tablets etc.

Great place, peaceful and free nexflix was a great bonus

The property is close to where I was working but also close the Ashby so getting food was easy as well. All in all great place to stay and by far better than a hotel room.

I would have liked to turn the heating up a bit, and the twin bed pushed together weren't as comfortable as some I have slept on.
