The location was excellent. Close to the moor, close to the A30 and not down impassable roads. South Tawton is a beautiful village with a wonderful church.
It was a shame that this characterful old pub with such a lot of history has turned into a B&B with no historical atmosphere in the interiors (other than the lovely old photos of the pub in its heyday), but the owners have done an incredible job of rescuing it from dereliction, and we felt privileged to stay in such a fine old building in a beautiful village.
