Peaceful, Beautiful
This is a fabulous cottage, in a quiet peaceful setting. It is well situated to access all of the moors, going across or around depending on your driving preferences. Just a perfect place to spend a lovely week! It is very well equpped

So relaxing, perfect for our anniversary celebration with family.
Lovely location. So peaceful. Great walks. Lodge so comfortable. Beautifully appointed. Lots of wonderful little touches which add to the comfort. Cream tea on arrival - how absolutely lovely was that? Other groceries etc., available, just in case you have forgotten your own. Will definitely visit again.

Shilstone Lodge stay
My son and I stayed in this lovely property on a working farm for a week. We loved the inside of the lodge, it was very clean and comfortable, the internal decor was very tastefully done, with lovely views across the fields to Dartmoor, and views down through the wooded hillside to the lake. It felt a bit like living in a treehouse. It was great that there was a bedroom and bathroom downstairs and upstairs, so we both had our own spaces. There was a tv in both bedrooms and the sitting room.
The lovely owners were helpful and friendly, despite running the holiday accommodation at the same time as caring for their calving cows and lambing sheep. They made us feel very welcome but they were not intrusive in any way.
On arrival there were cream teas waiting on the lodge dining table, fresh milk, tea and coffee. Another lovely touch was the three vases of beautiful flowers, in the sitting room and bedrooms. The place was spotlessly clean. There was a sitting out area, with table, chair and cushions, although the weather did not allow us to take advantage of them.
There is a narrow road leading to the Lodge, but after that there are good road links. The location, being fairly central, gives lots of options for visits to places like Chagford, the National Trusts Fingle Glen and walks to Castle Drogo and other locations that Dartmoor has to offer. A short walk from Shilstone Lodge, down a beautiful hedge bank lined road, is Stone Lane Gardens, well worth a visit, also the ancient Spinsters Rock, is opposite the farm.
We stayed for a week and were sad to leave this wonderful place.
