Full of original charm and historic details, the property combines traditional features with modern comforts. The original shop front has been transformed into a bright kitchen with large windows overlooking the street, creating a distinctive and welcoming space at the centre of the home.
The house offers a cosy living area with a log burner, perfect for relaxing after a day exploring Dartmoor, as well as a Japanese soaking tub for a touch of calm and luxury.
Set in the centre of this friendly Devon town, Hook House is ideally located for enjoying local cafés, independent shops, restaurants, and traditional pubs, while Dartmoor National Park is right on the doorstep for walking, cycling, and outdoor adventures.
A unique place to stay, Hook House is perfect for guests looking for history, comfort, and a genuine Devon experience.
Guest access
Guests will have full private access to Hook House throughout their stay.
The property is a self-contained home, giving you the freedom to relax and enjoy the space at your own pace. You will have access to the kitchen, living areas, bedrooms, bathroom, and all amenities provided within the house.
Please note that, due to the historic nature of the property, there are stairs and uneven floors throughout the house. The property is not suitable for young children or guests who may be unsteady on their feet.
While Hook House does not have a private garden, a lovely walking area is less than five minutes away, and dogs are very welcome.
Other things to note
Please note that Hook House is a historic 17th-century property and, as such, has retained many of its original features. There are stairs and uneven floors throughout the house, which add to its character but mean the property is not suitable for young children or guests who may be unsteady on their feet.
The house does not have a private garden; however, there is a lovely walking area less than five minutes away. Dogs are very welcome, and Moretonhampstead and the surrounding Dartmoor landscape offer plenty of wonderful walks to enjoy with your four-legged friends.
As the property is located in the centre of Moretonhampstead, you can enjoy the convenience of having cafés, restaurants, independent shops, and traditional pubs just a short walk away. Being in the heart of the town also means there may be some gentle background noise from the road and local activity during the day.
The original shop-front windows are a unique feature of the property, allowing natural light into the kitchen and connecting the home with the character of the town.
Please let us know if you have any questions before booking — we are always happy to help you decide if Hook House is the right fit for your stay.
