Fairytale Cottage - Peaceful Getaway Near Bled

The house is beautifully situated on a mountain.

First and foremost: the host has put in a lot of effort to make you feel welcome and at home. There are however some things you should take into account before booking the fairytale-cottage. First: the place has everything. Except space. It’s just not really big. The pictures do reflect the true situation, but expect very little space in especially kitchen and bathroom. Second: Be aware that people taller 1.85 will encounter the ceiling many times. Third: there is a main road through the park nearby. Cars driving there are not a nuisance, however during weekends there are also many many ‘racing’ motorbikers on the road, which cause a lot of noise. Finally: the road to the cottage is very steep. The last 25 meters requires a 4x4. If you don’t have one, you’re up for some exercise with your luggage and groceries from car to cottage. Those points are not points the host can do anything about and they are not meant as a critic. However, the price we paid for the place (€2.500 p/w) made us leave with mixed feelings: we had a great week in Slovenia in a beautiful cottage on a perfect location, but the paid price was too high for the received comfort, space and hygiene.

This lovely, rustic cabin is the perfect place to stay for peace, quiet and nature. There are spectacular views over the Julian Alps and a beautiful garden to sit and relax. There are several walks from the cottage including a circular gorge walk and a shorter walk to the next hill with views over Lake Bled. Inside, there is a comfortable living room with picture window, well appointed kitchen and two cosy bedrooms up a steep, narrow staircase. We ate out two of the three nights we stayed here at the Guesthouse Anž’k at the bottom of the driveway. The traditional Slovenian stews were so good we had to go back again - our 16 year old son said the goulash was the best he’d ever had and asked for a double potion the second night! The homemade Bled cream cake and apple strudel was superb. The guesthouse owners were so nice and gave us great recommendations for places to visit as well as letting us sample their homemade liqueurs. This cottage was perfectly situated for peace and relaxation but close enough to Bled to do lots of fun activities like canyoning and swimming on the lake. We wish we could have stayed longer but have made many happy memories.

The property was wonderful but the stairs very narrow so not ideal if you have mobility issues.

The host is wonderful and very kind, the cottage is beautiful, clean and everything we needed. The location is spectacular. Great views, peaceful place great links to everywhere we needed to go. The facilities were perfect and we enjoyed our time immensely.

There's nothing we could possibly dislike. The cottage was everything we wanted and more. Our host was lovely and helpful. We don't have a bad thing to say about anything.
