Colle al Matrichese - Historic Winery

For anyone looking for an authentic Tuscan experience in a 500-year-old house, part of a vast historic estate and surrounded by vineyards, this is the place. We really enjoyed taking part in a Brunello wine tasting session, and it was fascinating to learn that the former owner of the winery and estate played an important role in the development of this grape variety in Italy. The location is excellent for exploring the beautiful and fertile Montalcino area. Last but not least, we would like to thank Emilio for his wonderful hospitality, which made our stay even more special.

The kitchen was too small and could have been better equipped for such a large apartment. This is not a complaint, just a suggestion for improvement.

Little cozy cottage, so much history and heritage. Absolute privilege to have stayed here.

Seriously excellent space. The views were gorgeous. The gardens were spacious. Wine tour also excellent. We bought a bottle of the famous Brunello Di Montalcino. They have many to try.

Niente

A stay in an actual producing vineyard couldn’t be better. Great 2 bedroom apartment with comfy beds and a washer. Large shower. Small kitchen with a cute little Italian percolator. Coffee provided. Beautiful spaces. Wonderful vineyard tour and wine tasting. Very close to Montalcino. Easy drive.

The neighbors barking dogs can be a bit bothersome, but they are so cute. Look, but don’t try to pet them.
