About this house rental

Overlooking stunning Opahi Bay in Mahurangi West, this cute bach is set in beautiful bush setting and just a few minutes walk from the beach and boat ramp – ideal for a family or group weekend away. Opahi Bay is a calm and child friendly beach with fantastic rocks to explore and a lovely swimming beach when the tide is in. Everyone falls in love with the native birdlife surrounding this bach.

The bach is a two level house, with queen bedroom and en-suite on the upper level and two more bedrooms and family bathroom on the lower level (note: the queen room accesses the bathroom via the bedroom with 1 double and 2 single beds, so best for families), all with comfortable beds and quality linen.

The bach itself is well equipped with everything you need, including a BBQ, outdoor furniture and a heat pump for cosy winter getaways, has relaxed furnishings and WiFi.

The Mahurangi West area has so much to offer with beautiful nearby walks and beach exploring at Te Muri Beach, Sullivans Bay and Mita Bay and only 15 minutes drive to the Puhoi General Store and historic Puhoi Pub. Matakana is around 30 minutes drive, offering wineries, farmers markets and shopping.

Homely feel with everything we needed & more! Hadn't ever stayed in the area so it was a great base to visit Sullivan's & Te Muri without worrying about the traffic back to Auckland in the evening. Also great to wake up to birds in the bush & Californian quail on the lawn. Could've done without the mossies but that's NZ bush for you...

My sister and I stayed for 4 amazing days. Groceries store is 15 mins away. Wenderholm park is a must see. We loved the property's location. Its tucked away in a gorgeous little private place with a view on a beach down the road. I would love to return there one day.

We loved our stay at Rachel's bach in Mahurangi West! The house was super clean, comfy beds, and perfect layout for our group; the teenagers were able to have their own space downstairs while my partner and I had the upstairs. Even our 8 year had his own space. Very handy having a tv on each floor too! The view is beautiful and even though neighbours are close by, it does feel very peaceful and private thanks to all the bush that surrounds the area. The driveway is very steep and definitely worth backing down if you can to enable an easier exit later as there is no space to turn around. All in all this property is a hidden gem and I can definitely recommend it to all!

What an amazing find just 30minutes from home on the North Shore of Auckland but felt like we were miles away and to quote my 12 year old - “so quiet”. We enjoyed the views, birdsong and night sky. Even the crazy wind couldn’t dampen the experience of sitting and looking at the view. A wonderful little spot to celebrate 3 family birthdays and enjoy each others company away from the busyness of life

We stayed for 2night at this beautiful bach and enjoyed the sea views from the sunny lounge. Everything we wanted was there and the house was very tidy. It was a short walk to the beach. Rachel was quick with communicating and sorted an issue we had very promptly. We'd love to stay again if we get a chance. Thank you!

Definitely a well looked after batch with all the amenities you need. Overlooking Opahi bay it was an absolute treat staying here. Close to local attractions and set in a very peaceful environment. Family enjoyed it tremendously and less than a hour’s drive from Auckland. Highly recommended for a quick break-away weekend stay or longer if you have the time. :-)

We had a relaxing visit - great views out to the bay & we loved the bush setting and birdlife. Everything you need is at the bach - just bring a fishing rod! Sullivan's Bay, a few minutes drive away, is also beautiful with some good walks and amazing views.

This pristine and elevated bach offers a beautiful glimpse of Opahi Bay, whilst surrounded by pristine native bush. Wild kereru wood pigeons were dive bombing around us, with tuis and fantails fluttering around. It is a very quiet and peaceful - and the bach has all the comforts that you need. Well stocked with excellent cutlery and crockery - the shower has great pressure, and it really reflects a well-loved and cared for bach.... and only 45 mins away from Auckland! Matakana with all the attractions is only a short drive away. What a great place to escape!
