Tropical Isle #205

Unit 205 was small but roomy enough for four adults to coexist comfortably. The location was great, especially since we didn't have a car. The beach and a convenience store are both short walk from this unit. Uber to Destin Harbor was around $25 each way. There were two folding camp chairs, a broom, and vacuum in the closet. There's a borrow box at the beach entrance with buckets, sifters, shovels and other beach accessories to share. The public beach was clean, laid-back and not crowded.

I read other reviews before booking so I was mentally prepared, but hopeful some of the negative ones weren't as bad as they seemed or even still an issue.... Well, the fridge and freezer definitely still smell like seafood, which is disappointing because the ice maker worked great. The hideaway bed mattress was sagging and flimsy but the ceiling fan in the living room was so amazing it almost cancelled out the discomfort. The bathroom is pretty small and there's no room for anything but a bar of soap on the counter. We used the dresser for our bathroom countertop. We had to buy extra toilet paper and paper towels to make it through 5 nights with 4 people. Beach setup was not included with unit 205, but it was 32 for half a day and well worth it every day. I stayed at Tropical Isle previously in a different unit, and I will stay at this complex again, but not #205 if the smelly fridge and sagging mattress are in the same condition.

Everything was perfect! My family was pleased from the time we entered the property! I will definitely be staying again! You won’t be disappointed!

Nice, small but large enough for several people

LOCATION! Could not be any closer to the bech for the price. The area of beach was perfect as well. Parking was great too! We met others on the beach who have repeatedly stayed at this property (different units) and have always had a good stay. We enjoyed how close this property is to good food options. There's a pool on property as well and a shower in pool area which we used to rinse sand after the beach everyday.

Beds were SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE as were pillows. As 2 avg sized adults, we had to sleep separately because the double beds sunk in the middle. Spouse is a tummy sleeper and couldn't sleep on his tummy because of the dip in the mattresses. The sofa is very soiled. We used the extra package of linens to cover the sofa to sit on it. This unit has a very tight bathroom space. Shower curtain will touch your knees if you are very tall, as you sit on the toilet. We got used to it though. There were some hairs on the top blanket and high up in the shower when we arrived. There were no washcloths in our unit upon arrival either. We never asked staff for anything. We bought our own washcloths at store. Windows facing the beach are in need pf replacment, as they are filled with moisture and therefor sadly block view of beach/ocean.
