Great location, fantastic kitchen and very comfortable. A great place to enjoy the Peak District. For more active people you can explore loads on foot from the property.
All was good

A spacious two bedroom cottage. The bathroom has clearly recently been renovated with a large walk in shower. The kitchen was well equipped and big enough to cook in. The parking space at the back meant you were sure the car was safe, but it is quite tight for bigger cars. Good location for Chatsworth House and Matlock.
The road is quite busy at the front, particularly at the weekend.

Very close to the locations we wanted, Monsal trail, Bakewell, Chatsworth etc and literally a 2 minute walk to the Peak Village shopping centre.
Lighting wasn't ideal my partner is partially sighted and struggled a bit, but others would find it cosy tbh

The property was well located a short drive to Matlock (where the nearest large supermarket is located). Parking was ok outside of the house (although the road does get busy with traffic heading to Chatsworth House.). People in the area are friendly and approachable, and the scenery is wonderful. Peak Rail is within walking distance (although there are car park facilities there), a nice enough dog friendly pub, and there are some nice fields for letting your dog off the lead nearby. The bath has been replaced by a new shower that is very nice, although could do with a shelf to hold shower gel etc. Chesterfield and Clay Cross (where the big Tesco and petrol is) is located about 20 minutes drive away, although be aware that the main route to it (Chesterfield Road) is very hilly and very narrow at certain points so bear that in mind.
Following a short period of rainfall, I was unfortunate to slip on one of the concrete paving slabs heading downwards from the front gate to the front door of the property, resulting in fracturing my pelvis and requiring a visit to a medical centre, where I had to be prescribed high strengths of morphine to mitigate the pain. One month later, I am still slowly recovering and using morphine as part of my recovery. Earlier that morning, after some overnight rain, my son also slipped going the opposite direction but managed to avoid falling. Both of us were wearing suitable walking shoes. I was very lucky that I did not sustain a more serious injury such as hitting my head on the concrete slab. A representative from Sykes spoke to me later on a separate matter, but as soon as I mentioned the incident they sought to end the call saying they would pass the message onwards. Probably thought that I was going to sue. Anyway, it's really disappointing that they have not followed up further and at least showed some compassion at the incident that clearly ruined our stay. Those paving slabs look reasonable in dry weather but water goes through the bush and collects on the uneven surface and I just took one step onto it and fell. I want other people not to experience the kind of pain that I have suffered. Please can you ask the owners to place "Slippery when wet" warning signings on the gate and door, or some other form of warning in the house information. As for the house. It was clean and comfortable. We were disappointed to find that no toilet roll was provided. It's a small thing but after a long journey, no local convenience stores and the nearest on the way back to Matlock, it was some kind soul that saved the day. The microwave was handy, except the plates provided didn't fit so we had to buy some. We also never quite tamed the heating situation but thankfully it seemed to sort itself out.
