Small but perfectly formed. Has everything you could need. Completely spotless inside and out. A perfect base to explore it as we did hide for a rainy day. Looking for rebook but a bigger lodge as hopefully have a dog in tow by then.

relaxing, romantic, scenic views, cosy for any season

We booked mainly for the jacuzzi which didn’t disappoint the views of the fields behind us was so relaxing and we were lucky for the weather at night the skies were clear and could see the stars from the hot tub absolutely gorgeous, love the location with woodland walks close by that you can walk through to get to the nearest town which has lovely restaurants, pubs and shops for any essentials you may have forgotten.

Perfect little stay

Everything was amazing, beautiful wee chalet, hot tub was great. So quiet and peaceful, Owner came up to meet us not long after we arrived. Surroundings were lovely. Will defo be returning.

Quiet scenic base for touring area and hot tub was a bonus at end of the day

The bothy is located up a single track road and the elevated position provides good views to the countryside from the accommodation and towards the coast from the roadside. There are two other similar units at the site and a couple of larger ones however privacy is maintained with natural hedge screening and we didn‘t experience any noise disturbance from neighbours. Parking is alongside the bothy. Check-in and out times seemed variable due to ongoing Covid-19 cleaning requirements but were not an issue for us. The structure is modern and the interior fittings contemporary. The open plan sitting area and kitchenette are comfortable and an open doorway leads to the bedroom with ensuite. The kitchenette is fully functional for self catering with oven, hobs, microwave oven, fridge, dishwasher and sufficient crockery, utensils, etc for two. Empire biscuits were provided on arrival. The wall mounted television had Freeview channels. There is electric heating and we found the accommodation temperature was comfortable. The bed was comfortably firm and the walk-in shower in the ensuite had decent water pressure however the positioning of the glass screen restricted movement a little. One hand and two bath towels were provided and dried on the heated towel rail. (We took our own micro towels which were handy when using the hot tub). The hot tub was fully functional at any time and we made use of it each day of our 3 night stay - a pleasant experience even in light rain one evening. We walked to and from the bothy via the woodland path to the town on several occasions and it should be achievable for any one with moderate fitness levels. Our meal at The Ship Inn was the best of those we tried. Saw Red Kites from site and handy for visits by car to Kirkcudbright and Mull of Galloway.

I’d advise taking sleep masks if you are prone to waking at first light since it comes streaming in the bedroom window in the early hours (in summer), despite the curtains. Handy if you want to get up and about early but not so good if you enjoy a more leisurely morning rise. Roller blind in kitchen wasn’t functioning - had to be hand rolled back into open position. One of the two smoke detectors needed a new battery - we reported but due to size of unit it was not a big issue for us. No functioning access link to wi-fi.

Outstanding trip.

The peacefulness of the location was superb and within an easy drive from many attractions. The private terrace with hot tub was a real treat after a day of sightseeing and walking. The lodge was really well kitted out with everything you could possibly need. The bed was very comfortable.

The walk into town was an adventure in itself as it involved a stroll through the forest which was beautiful. However it was quite a hard walk back, legs were a bit tired. This is not a complaint.

I know we are in covid restrictions but would have been nice for the host at the end of our stay to pop round outside and ask how our stay had been . We only happened to see her one day as she drove past or we would have never have met her I feel that's a bit rude.

A Wonderful Romantic Getaway

I honestly had one of the best week’s of my life at Beth’s Bothy. Although myself and my girlfriend stayed within a timeframe constrained by COVID-19 restrictions, the bothy was like a little corner of heaven in all of the madness. It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and cosy. The location was very quiet and serene, and the local village is a total beauty spot for walking and exploring. The hot tub was obviously our favourite part, and it just made the whole experience so much more relaxing. We loved that there were such good self-catering facilities too, and plenty of room to get a full shop in. Overall, the time we spent at Beth’s Bothy lifted our spirits and calmed our minds, and we are hugely grateful for our time there.

Lovely quiet location, nice hot tub

I read before booking that there would be ‘essentials’ in the property ie salt pepper oil and there was nothing, only provided with 1 toilet roll and only 2 towels provided for the whole weekend including we had to use them coming out of the hot tub! I understand certain lodges you take your own things but for the price we paid we weren’t overly impressed.
