LA MAISON DU BOSCO

Location perfect to stumble back from restaurants/bars and to walk along the quay or up the hill into Auray. On a hot day the cool shaded ground floor was perfect, although it was necessary to have the lights on at all time while in use. Kitchen was well supplied and had almost every convenience except a washing machine. King size bed is comfortable and quite large. Despite being close to the bars and restaurants, we weren't disturbed and slept well, in fact too well. The location is great for visits to Carnac, Cote Sauvage, Vannes or anu number of fantastic beaches on the nearby coast. There are also plenty of lanes to explore by bicycle and wildlife reserves to visit around the gulf of Morbihan where we spotted otters and many birds whIch do not visit the UK.

La Maison is on a narrow medieval street and has tourist information guides opposite the front door. It was not unusual to find a face pressed against the door windows attempting to see the inside of the property! The alley in front does contain a number of artists studios open to tourists so we deduced that the signage above the door made it look like another studio.

Lovely cottage, full of history and character, renovated with style and thoughtfulness by its welcoming owner. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was provided. The property is located a few steps away from the pretty port and its wide choice of excellent bars, cafes and restaurants - and yet still peaceful.

Great location from which to take day trips to explore areas of Brittany along the coastline. Many cafes were steps away from the lodging, and we enjoyed browsing the fresh seafood and outdoor markets too. The hosts met us the evening we arrived, and showed us the different parking lots or locations we might find parking. They drove us around to show us the city centre and where we might find the fish market and other landmarks. We so appreciated this assistance!

Parking is in lots or on the street, wherever one can find an empty spot. In the lodging, we would have liked a handrail up the stone steps to the bedroom and loft area, to reduce risk of taking a tumble on the stairs.
