At checkIn I was given room #7 and one key. The gentleman on the front desk was not very helpful when I arrived and in fact did not give me any information about the amenities at the hotel so I have no idea what they have. In the room there wasn't any hot water and the heater didn't work. When I went downstairs later to make some enquiries I was given another key which was to the front door by a different much nicer south Asian gentleman. I stayed for four days. There is sufficient parking and the hotel and surrounding area, apart from the periodic railway train if your room is inthe back, is very quiet. There was sufficient towels, soap, tea and coffee in the room. However, the room was awful and in desperate need of modernising. The sheets were very dingy and cold so I purchased my own spread to put across the bed. In the winter I imagine room #7 is unbearable. Two days after arriving I saw two of the other rooms which were being cleaned. Those rooms were much nicer than room #7. I am in the UK until the 1 June and I would've spent the duration there but the service received when I arrived set the tone, and room #7 topped it off. The front desk gentleman when I checked In told me I would have to buzz everytime I went out during the night to be let back in, which I later found out was not completely true. Hence, I was provided with a front door key by another staff member. There was a Jamaican man and an Eastern European lady working yesterday and the Jamaican man again this morning when I checked out. They were both very nice and accommodating. Before checking out this morning at around 7:30, I was using the bathroom and a South Asian man entered the room with a main key and said he was housekeeping. In all it wasn't a very nice experience, but I suspect physical appearance may play a significant part in the services received from some of the staff at Avis.

Its okay if you get a great rate. The room has everything you need for a short stay. The staff are not the most welcoming. There is also a huge garden space that appears unused that I don't believe guests can use. Excellent parking.
